Offciallly part of the 'Mazda Family' now.

:
2018 3 Sport GT MANUAL
No CX5 (yet) as we're waiting for the diesel but the wife's 2003 Civic died earlier than hoped (thinking alternator...again) on the weekend and she needed a car today. So off to the dealership we went on the weekend (instead of a few months from now as hoped).

Tried to get a manual, 2017 3-Sport GS with moon roof but they only had white anywhere in Western Canada so we opted to dive right in and get a GT in 'Machine Grey'.

No pictures of her actual car yet, but basically this guy:

I think she might even let me drive it tonight (rlaugh)

If the 3 had a usable back seat (as in leg room) and a little more cargo room I'd buy one in a heartbeat over the CX-5. What we really need in this country is the damn CX-4!

Wife and I are both short and the kids will be in back 99% of the time.

We're also planning on getting a CX5 some time in the next ~year or so (with a diesel).

What we REALLY need is the 6 wagon (with diesel and manual) here!

Kinda' doubt it. This model was developed for the Chinese market and those folks live in the back seat!
(lol) maybe but the image might show otherwise

Rear leg room is not so bad in the Mazda3. Have you tried adjusting the front seat to your liking and then sitting on the backseat? Of course, if compared to a CX-5, then yes the backseats in a Mazda3 will feel a lot smaller.

I really would love a 3 2.5L/6MT wagon to go next to our CX-5 since they look so similar other than height proportions. But I don't drive enough to justify it.

Wife finally let me take it for a spin last night.

Man that throttle response really is divine. And the gear box 'snick-snicks' in and out of gears better than anything else I've ever driven short of an older Miata. The handling/cornering is flat and drama free. The car just does. Such a joy to drive. And it's got good scoot (and amenities) for a 'compact econo-hatch'.

All that stuff they talk about in their promo/engineering videos is spot on. Everything feels so direct, intuitive and intentional. I think they've got a customer for life here if they keep this up (rockon)

Good short review. Makes me want to test drive a new one haha.

Good looking car. I like the color. Congrats.

I was quite happy when my wife decided (without any prodding from me) that it was her favourite colour. We should have matching machine grey Mazda's in the next year or so (thumb)

Actually, the 3 is not that bad, as long as you are not too fat! The handling of the 3 is fantastic and actually makes the CX-5 feel like a CUV!

The CX-4 is a nice looking car. On my trips to China I always look for them and have only seen a few but they sure do look longer than the CX-5 but very nice looking. I would buy that in a heartbeat!
