Is Tech Package worth it?

Dealer is offering $2400 off MSRP for 2016 GT FWD with Tech. Dont know if it's worth it or if I should find a base model.
Also gives me $500 rebate if I finance with Mazda.

The Daytime Running Lights (DRL's) and the LED Headlights are why I bought the Tech Package...
I used to have HID's in a Sorento but I like these much much more...just my opinion though..

Absolutely 100% worth it to me. The light output and brightness of the LEDs are absolutely fantastic. Not to mention it gives the cx5 a much more aggressive stance with the led accent lights and main headlights. Plus you get SCBS with it as well.

You can buy the navigation card with without the Tech package, in case you weren't aware. All you need is the SD card as the vehicle already has the hardware. (I bought the card off eBay for $180.)

IMHO the navi is fair at best -- worse than my portable Garmin unit for ease of use -- but it works and seems accurate.

Do you want to live in the 20th or 21 century? I would be more concerned about AWD rather than FWD living in NYC. Probably needs to push the FWD.

Dealer needs to move tech package cx-5's off his lot. He's still making money. That's about how much a non-tech MSRP costs. You could get a non-tech and whittle it down further.

I don't have the package, the perks are small and won't affect resale value much in the future.

Also have an offer for $27,100 + TTL for base CX5. Not too convinced about Tech yet.

it's largely an individual choice - do you want the additional safety/assistance add-ons based on your driving needs
you're the one who has to live with it

note - none of them are available as add-ons after i think, or at really high prices, so it's decide now and get the damn car LOL

or as i suggested elsewhere - keep investigating, looking, see what if anything changes in the 2017's likely out in 3 months, then see if new model offers anything wonderful (doubt it personally) or get an even better deal (probably) on a 2016

The CX-5 LED lights i have now seem to throw a much more crisp white light immediately than my HID's on my Sorento which were aftermarket ones I installed because the OEM Halogens were worthless at night.
I think the DRL's are so cool..you can immediately see another CX-5 a long way away because they are so distinctive. (versus the dotted XMAS DRL's on other cars including and especially the Acura's).
The adaptive lights turn the lights toward you turn illuminating the corner you are heading towards. We have deer in my area and I saw a deer's retinas two nights ago coming toward my road so I slowed down a bit just in case.
I Like the LED's a LOT!
I've only used the Nav once but it was fine...love the female voice...my wife who always see problems or issues with cars told me on Sunday she really liked my CX-5...that's historical...
now I've got to find a place to hide the spare keys from her..(shocked)

I just moved to Los Angeles so it would be nice to have a Navi installed since I dont know the city. But I also feel I could just use my phone.

I have the H.I.D. pkg in my 2015 GT w/tech. My lighting is also crisp white as well, which may be a function of their youth! The AFS is spectacular in this system. As far as the much maligned Nav (TOMTOM) goes, it is adequate but just enough. It is still a bargain $$ wise. Normally I would nt purchase a vehicle with NAV but considering the price, I went ahead. Again, the standout in the 15 is the HID w/ AFS!!!

Just bought the CX-5 GT with tech package and it is fantastic. Blind spot indicators work well, adaptive cruise control is nice for highway driving, and the headlights are superb (they also turn to follow you when your turning the car...) - also like the auto sensing windshield wipers. Nav system is nice, but doesn't take traffic into consideration like Waze does, so I don't use it much.

Overall love the music system --reconnects my iPhone every time I enter the car and starts my music back up (whether it's Apple Music or another music app).

I didn't get the bumper sensors (optional, can be added by the dealer later), but the backup camera projected graphics let me know how close I am to other objects/walls when backing out of or into a parking space.

I wanted the LED's and adaptive headlights, but it wasn't a must have. I went with the GT non-tech and I am happy. I'm on the fence about buying the nav SD...Waze works well for me and I can likely find other things to do w/a few hundred bucks.
