Mazda5 Wheel Fitment & Photo Guide

Very nicely done tuanies and a great pic too! Consider a pair of side skirts, makes a huge "visual" difference, esp if you are lowered. I'm without one and when I actually look and compare the sides, it is an eye sore. Luckily (maybe not) it is on the other side so out of sight, out of mind :p.

Does the front end clear parking curbs??

I'm not a fan of the OEM side skirts on the second gen. They were designed for the first gen and look odd with the Nagare styling lines. However, I do like the BaysonR K-style knock offs. might pick those up with the front and rear lips.

The front end clears curbs, the OEM mudflaps scrape sometimes.

Nice! Thats the lowest it'll go? Hows the ride on the megan? Debating on getting them but decided on the tein street advance

I like the ride on them. I have it set to 16/11 for dial stiffness (from softest setting). They're fairly comfortable for me. That is the lowest it'll go without removing collars, which isn't recommended.

I've never liked the side skirts on either 1st or 2nd gen. It looks incomplete with out front and rears.

Agree, the aftermarket skits do look better and MUCH cheaper… But I like the 1st gen’s subtle look.

I feel the opposite. IMO, I think the front and rear bumper was design with skirts in mind but they took it off the base model to enable a lower price point for product differentiation/segmentation. The corners of the valance starts lines that lead to skirt, which looks incomplete without it on the Sport. I’m not a fan of rear valances or diffusers –unless race car.

Only looking at the skirt, which looks better?

For the second gen, the front bumper goes too low without side skirts but not low enough with the side skirts. The back end doesn't lineup at all unless you get the rear lip either.

I'm not a fan of the K Style front lip though :\

That's exactly how I feel on both generations. If it would of been half the size it is now I think it would be perfect.

I might at least just add the spoiler. Ordered a shark fin antenna though. Should be here in 2 weeks.

Specs: Megan Racing Street Series Coilovers, bottomed out as much as possible without removing a collar, 225/40/R18 tires on MS3 GenPu wheels.

tuanies, i came across your IG account last night and saw you were running megan coilovers, go figure i google the coilovers and find threads on this site.

have you had the need to add camber arms to the rear to correct the camber? I am not sure if 1g and 2g 5's are the same in that respect. I see 1g guys needing to add camber arms all the time, i know a guy with a 2g on h&r springs and he said he didnt need the arms and his tire wear is fine.

I have a 1g I want to lower, tempted to go with just springs and maybe replacement kyb struts/shocks, but worried i will need to replace other parts to get the suspension sorted, and the price creep will get me to the cost of a set of megan coilovers anyways.

I don't have any camber issues in the back, no camber arms needed. I have the shocks/struts and rear spring perches bottomed out completely within the factory collar specifications.

Anyone running a 18x8 +40mm offset and lowered? I am planing to get the Enkei M52, either 50mm or 40mm offset and prefer the 40mm for the more concave look. Not sure if it will rub or not. Planing to lower my 14 on the H&R spring and running 215/40/18 tires for more clearance.

You will definitely rub with the 40mm offset, the 50mm should be close if not clear of rubbing. I am running OEM Genjuan MS3 wheels which are 18x7 with a 52.5mm offset and 225/45/18 and I am on H&R springs as well. Mine rubs at full lock and compression at front and at full compression at rear.

Took a few quick snaps of my lowered 5.

Specs: 18x8.5 +48 with 245/35/18

Ill take some day time pics tomorrow and this is the lowest i can go without hitting the strut or rubbing the fenders unless i get a spacer to clear the front if i go lower. Right now im rubbing on the rear on big dips so i might just roll just a little

Thanks for your input guys. I think I am sticking with 18x8 +50 to be safe since I am not planning to roll the fenders or 1/4 panel or doing some extreme -camber. Quick question, do you guys install the camber kit on the rear? And FaDz, are you on H&R spring as well?

Kashun, besides the H&R springs, G-A-J KYB shocks, MS3 sway bar and MS3 end links, and Prothane sway bar bushings all other suspension components are OEM stock. No camber kit or adjustable arms back there or up front.

Finally got a chance to snap just a few pictures of my Mz5. Hopefully she will be on a new set of wheels within the next few months!

Thoughts?
