Mazda5 Wheel Fitment & Photo Guide

2% isn't really much in the world of tire sizes. Considering how non standard tire sizing is, you can find a 2% difference between two tires of the same size between brands. I wouldn't sweat 2% at all.

ya, if you are going 60Mph, it should read 61.2 or 58.8, depending on which side of the coin it is.
If you are doing 60 and cops clocks you are 61, 99.999% will not give you a ticket... if you are doing 70, or 71, fine will be the same.

Think these will work on my 5? lol

wouldn't 215/45s wreck havoc on the speedo/mpg meter, etc.? That's almost a 2% slower speedo read-out. I'm really undecided. Over rough roads/roads with undulation, the 255/40s are being obliterated. boo hoo.
215/50-17 will correct the factory speedometer sandbagging and bring you dead on with the speedo readout. As far as 2%, your tires will vary by more than that from new to worn out. Considering the normal passenger tire has a tread depth of 10/32 and is considered "dead" at 2/32 inches, you're losing half an inch off your tire diameter over the life of the tire. Going from 25 inches to 24.5 inches gives you a 2% loss already.
booooo just realised subaru is a lower centre bore :(
Have a machine shop bore them out!

When I saw this dicussion, I thought to volunteer that when torquelover got brand hew STOCK size tires recently, he reported that his car no longer scraped going into his driveway - which it had done ever since he brought it home new. So his replacement Yohokama Envigor tires must be measurably taller than the SAME SIZE stock Toyo A18s had been when new.

Might be entertaining to compare the "specs" tabs for the same size of different tire models on Tirerack.com .....

They are taller, and wider than the OEM Toyos. With the rim protector built in they look a LOT wider. I have a pic of this:

Tires DO vary in size from one manufacturer and model to the next within the same "size" so it could definitely make a difference, but usually not THAT much.

Thinking of putting the H&R on my 2012. I bought it new have 29K miles on it now.

How long is the life of the OEM struts? Are you guys using OEM struts or going to new struts? Is the install pretty easy?

All my other cars have coilovers, just don't want to spend that much $ on the minivan.

For 18x7 ET52.5 wheels, what tire size do I need? 225/40/18 or 215/45/18.

I'm leaning toward the 215/45/18 but does it matter if I'm stock height or lowered on H&R or Eibach springs?

I looked at Mazda3s and they've used both(dunno)
- 1st gen Mazda3/MS3 oem sizes are 205/50/17 and 215/45/18
- 2nd gen Mazda3/MS3 oem sizes are 205/50/17 and 225/40/18

I think you will be safe with either. If it were me, I would run the 225/40. At that offset I don't think you will have any problems with rubbing, even lowered. I'm running 245/40 18 on I believe ET 50 RX8 wheels. I rub on the inside on steering lock up front and have barely nipped on the right rear once going 75mph and hitting a huge dip road transition. I will be going to 235/40 when I replace these tires. I'm lowered approx. 1.5 -1.75". Happy tire hunting and don't forget to post some pics once you're rolling.

As an owner of a 2nd Gen MS3 in the garage, I despise how ugly the first gen MS3 wheels are.

However, on the Mazda5, I would have to say the MS3 first gen wheels look greeat.

Davicho, looks good! Now paint 'em black... Hey, that's what you told me! :) Really though, keep em silver!

I mounted new tires on my RX8 wheels. I went from 245/40 18 to 235/40 18. I am very happy with the new shoes so far and my very minor rubbing issues seem to be resolved.

Nitto NeoGen. I have never ran Nitto before but so far I'm quite impressed.

They are listed as an all-season but from the reviews I've seen they really are more performance oriented and will only handle light amounts of snow. I have winter tires for the car anyway.

Davicho, I never thought the first gen Speed3 wheels were all that striking but I must say they really do look good on your 5.

Loosenut, is your vehicle lowered ?
*sorry, I just noticed in a previous post that it is.*

Thanks loosenut. I have to admit that I prefer your 18" RX8 wheels over my MS3 wheels but I do have to agree that the 1st gen MS3 wheels do look a heck of a lot better on the 2012+ MZ5 then they do on the 1st gen MS3s.

Looks good! Can you please take a shot that shows how flush the tire is on the wheel? Have you had a chance to really push it in the turns or ride with your vehicle loaded with the new tires? Any rubbing at full lock? I'm a couple weeks out from mounting tires on my RX wheels. Still on the fence between 225 and 235, that's why I still haven't gotten them. I'm on H&R springs. Thanks!!!
