EVO X's GSR! 18s fit? Too bad they weigh 22 lbs. unless these are the BBS 17s, then nevermind, they're 17.8 lbs ish?

I think the forged BBS are 17X8 5x114.3 ET 38 Still, the lightest OEM wheels that'll cross-fit is still the club sport miata rims

There the evo 8 mr 17s, but yeah they are 17x8 5x114.3 et38 with a 67.1 centre bore, much lighter than my standard mazda wheels

Was running a 235 45 17 but fully loaded the tyres caught my rear arches and bent them a bit and cut the tyre up so Ive since removed them and sold them on at a profit, should have new wheels on tuesday all things going to plan, maybe not as nice as the evos were tho

If I could go back id fit some 215 45s or somthing

Cheers for the comments tho guys, paint is really awesome in the sun

why are you getting rid of your EVO MR 17s? I'm thinking about picking up a set this wk.

The wheels look good!

lol, I thought you had put tire shine on your tread at first, until I noticed the ground was wet.

What wheels are those (I see the Mitsu center cap)? Wheel size/offset and tire size?

Looks good

Pssh. Tire shine on tread = good for throwing crap up on the sides of your car. Which makes everyone think you have supa mad front wheel drive POWAH to throw uh... molten black rubber up on your doors. :D

Ive already sold them but regret it, they were a little bit too wide with the low offset and 8j but I wish I had just bought skinnier tyres tbh, so yeah go for it but dont run the 235s they come with ;)

fyi, 255/40/17, a common EVO IX tire size on their 17x8 rims, do NOT work at any of the corners. they rub all around. but wow, 255/40 makes the car so much more FUN to drive. it's like a new beast. I friggin love it, except for the missing chunks of tires. thanks for the inspiration am4nf! these rims are hella light at 17.x lbs, and they're readily available, and they will definitely clear the MS3 mini-big brake kit. i also got lucky cuz these had BBS center caps! So much win.

Hmm. Gonna have to try my 255/40s on my S2k wheels with different size spacers. I'm convinced there's enough room in the back for 255s (functionally dumb) since I was able to stuff 235/45s in without rolling the fenders.

^ fwiw, these were 17x8 et38, w/ unadjusted camber. I suppose EVO8 Enkeis with 17x8 et43 would probably run 255/40s just fine. I will switch out to 235/45s after these are completely destroyed. Thanks for the verification.

FYI, the 235/45s were on 17x7 +55 wheels from a Miata, so they were still quite a bit more inboard than your Evo wheels. The fronts won't clear the shock body at 235/45 on a +55, they need to be at +50.

i reneg.

phunky, I think you're right and the 255/40s do clear, at least at 17x8 et38. there is slight chunking on 1 corner, but only because the back was really loaded during one drive and I drove over a speed bump rather quickly.

otoh, the 255s in the front is apparently catching the shock body somewhere, so there's 1 clunk when backing w/ the wheels turned. still, 255s protrude way too much in the front, so I still want to do the 235/45s, which would give a more pliable ride anyway.

Dont do 235 45 mate it will rub, trust me I ran it and had nice big cut in of rubber missing and a hell of a lot of scratches up the quarter from flying rubber etc

Dont get me wrong it looks like it clears but fully loaded+ dip/ bump and it catches the arch

But tony yours looks sweet, i need to get me another set

^ haha! wings!

o man, the 255s are rubbin' whenever the rear shocks are compressed. no bueno. looks like 225/45 is the way to go if I don't wanna roll the fenders? (and I don't) I'm going to miss that 3cm of extra rubber though. plus, the 40 series makes the ride way too harsh. the Mrs. is complaining.

It might be purely up to the actual measured size of your 255s vs my 235s. If I cleared 235s at +50 offset, you should be able to clear 255s at +38. Assuming your 255 measured true to spec, then you should have had another 2mm of inside clearance compared to my 235s. I had a good 5mm from the sidewall to the shock body on the BCs. The OEM struts have a recess in the tube (dent basically) that I assume are to help clear tires, but I never tried them with wider tires. On the other hand, 235 at +50 didn't have much room at the outer edge- maybe 5mm, and that was with about -1.5 degrees of camber. 255 at +38 would stick out another 20mm compared to mine.

Nope. Offset matters a LOT. I think +48 is perfect for this car.

Plus 235 sticks out past the front wing too.... lol

225/45 is always really safe. You might want to look to 215/50 also. They're cheaper than most other sizes that fit on your 5.
wings = fenders
(for those on this side of the pond that might not know)
Ahhh ok.

It might make a difference that mine is pre 12 and tonys is post haha

235 45 certainly didnt clear front or rear on my 2007/8 et38 17x8

Yeah et50 but they dont on et38 haha unfortunatly, really wish I had kept them and done 215 45/40s

wouldn't 215/45s wreck havoc on the speedo/mpg meter, etc.? That's almost a 2% slower speedo read-out. I'm really undecided. Over rough roads/roads with undulation, the 255/40s are being obliterated. boo hoo.

2% isn't really much in the world of tire sizes. Considering how non standard tire sizing is, you can find a 2% difference between two tires of the same size between brands. I wouldn't sweat 2% at all.
