What have you done to your MSP today?

25? Pft. 60" chrome closet rod ftw lol. Sucks under the car though =[
Had to lock my trans into gear and use this beast on the locknuts. 150ft lbs. Hardest part was holding the trans with one arm and pushing the big bastard with the other lol.

Ps. Lot of good.my alarm did when some fker baseball batted my mirror clean off.
Annnd Nothing lol.

Didn't have a starting issue at all today. I did do an oil change, replaced a couple split vacuum lines with silicone lines, plumbed up my Oil catch can with some 3/8" hose and fixed my remote wire to my amp so I have bass again.

I have never met a more uncooperative car. I want to fix it, but it's having no part of it.

I'm still trying to do the front wheel bearing job. The splined driveshaft is supposed to slide out of the hub. NOT BUDGING! At this point I still have the strut attached but the shaft should push in towards the car about an inch or so before I even undo the strut. I've got a 7ton hub puller on it and the hub puller is deforming under the twist load i've put on it.

What the heck. How are these supposed to come off???

Heat? I could put a torch on the hub?

Happened to me a month or two ago. Ended up buying a new axle, knuckle, bearing, and hub. =_=

Luckily I never had that problem on this car and by now as many times as they've been in and out, it'll never happen. But like I said before, my P5 and 6 axles were like that. The P5s axle eventually came out after hitting the damn thing for 2 hours. The 6s axles I just swung out of the way when I dropped the engine to replace it.

When I did mine I bashed it with a hammer. They weren't "stuck" like yours appear to be though.

You can torch it. It didn't help mine tho. my guy took the assembly to his work to try to press it out. he said the knuckle was bending but the axle finally came off lol. pictured in this thread was his press at home. it wouldnt budge on that press.

Must have been just enough salt in the air in Tampa (where EvilMonkey was) to have corroded the splines. But everything looks like new under the car (?). Zero surface rust.

My Subaru mechanic neighbor is coming over with an air hammer tonight - he says he'll get it off. :) Time to clean my embarrassing garage.

So anxious to use this car. There is something so right about the MSP. Can't define it.

Unhook it from the suspension and it will allow it to wiggle around a little bit. I've had both axles on both MSP's come out with no problem.

Motor and trans are out of the Silve MSP and being taken apart. I have the axles out of the white MSP and just need to disconnect the motor mounts and pull her out. Then rotate the engine hoist 180* and place her in the Silver MSP :) Should hopefully be done this weekend or next with that on. Next will be to take apart the other motor and do a simple build to get me through this autoX season. Next year the fun will begin motor wise.

last night i cracked open my project p5 lights and HOOOBOY this will take some tlc.. both the lowbeam reflectors are burnt and need to be fixed. the high beams seem to be pretty good but ill probably fix them too.

I found a paint that works very very well for mimicing chrome and its actually for rc lexan lol. im hoping if i scuff the chrome finish with a very fine scotch it will take some base without a fulll on sand. the chrome looks just like real chrome but only on a glass smooth surface, and you cant clear coat it. so ill be hids or nothing with them.

not really interested in a projector build. i just want a classy stock looking ride thats low and clean.

considering how much a good set of p5s sells for, these $40 ones should work out just fine. just need everything painted and swap the lenses from my msp lights. shouldnt cost more than $100 to fix em up with the h7 hid bulbs.

this is not my pic, i dont take pictures of shiny things naked.. lol.

Airhammer fail.

We had to pull driveshaft out of trans (will need to learn how to refill with trans fluid - what type?)
Here's my Irish Subaru mechanic using shop press to get shaft out of hub. IT DIDN'T WANT TO MOVE! If the press had been 1 lbs/sqft weaker it wouldn't have come out.

Splines not corroded, they were BURNED!
OK here's the theory, when a bearing goes bad it heats up, a LOT. The splines were burned black (toasted anti-seize?) and fused to the inside of the hub. Hub metal was burned black too.
Moral here is - If you have a bad wheel bearing, don't wait, replace it or your splined shaft may fuse to your hub. Seems that other people have no problem pulling the shaft out if their wheel bearings are not the issue. The guys with this issue have had bad wheel bearings(?).

I went to the Cobb tuning meet yesterday and proudly had the only MSP there. Parked right next to one of the 8 GTRs that were there.

I have had plenty of bad wheel bearing, but have never held in the axle. Weird.

Can't wait to work on the car tomorrow :)
