Free (or real cheap) custom tune for someone in the San Antonio, TX area...

I'm not blaming you and I appreciate the effort. What I was mentioning above was before I put this offer up on the board. It really has been since December 2012. I may have an idea for you though. Forget trying to tow the car down. Just drive it down and take the MegaBus back to DFW. Should only be about a $25 ticket. WAY cheaper and less hassle than gas towing a car back and forth.

Joe or someone at his shop should be able to drop you at the MegaBus terminal. I've done that in dealing with similar issues. Worked out pretty well.

I'll pass. I've had extremely bad experiences with the bus transit system here in Texas- enough to where I'm more willing to pay for a plane ticket than take the bus. MegaBus here has a history of overbooking each ride, then calling the cops to arrest you for trespassing when you show up and demand to take the seat you paid for. Greyhound no longer sells actual seats, just a ticket to get in line to fight 9 other people for your seat. To get on a guaranteed seat on a Greyhound, you have to pay for a 3rd or 4th higher tier ticket than the $40 level, and it still takes the bus 8 hours to go from south of Austin to Dallas, plus the queue times up front (about an hour and a half), plus getting the ride home from the station...

I'll find another way. The bus isn't an option. Every bus trip I've attempted between Dallas, Austin and Houston for the last 6 years has had similar issues.

Well I'm not sure what happened to Phunky. He may be traveling or unavailable for other reasons. Haven't gotten an update and Dynotronics hasn't heard back from him either. If nothing happens in the next week or so I'll either need to find another donor car or just head out there myself.

This is an interesting thread. I'd love to volunteer my 5, but can't take a week off to do it. Getting laid off in April and cant take any time off till than. Would this tune be for a stock 5 or a slightly upgraded 5 or both?

If you are only talking about something like an intake and exhaust this should cover that also. He really needs the car to be able to properly MAP the ecu. If I go out there I'm going to end up spending 150+ on gas alone. If someone is close enough I'll cover the cost of a rental car. I can prepay it through Priceline and all someone would have to do is pick it up and use your own credit card for the "security deposit". They usually only hold $150-$250 until you return it.

Phunky. Get your ass down there. I'll get the rental car. Don't mess with towing and all those other headaches.

im in SATX, i'd be willing to give my car up for a day or so to get a tune going, hopefully it will be free to have the tune installed, didnt read EVERY post yet

Have spoken with DT and passed along your info. Also PM'd you his info. This appears to be scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th when Joe at DT gets back from vacation. Get er done.....

:( Sorry man... been pretty busy up here. Looks like a local is the best way to go, but I'm sad I missed out on this.

Thanks for trying. I still have plans to go out to San Antonio on March 3rd for work related purposes but will be flying. If something happens to D-machine between now and then and he can't get there I'll be driving instead. Dynotronics WILL have a 5 there on the 4th. I have to get this done and out of the way. My emissions are due again in April and I want to get the FIC out of the car and tuned properly.

Sorry, I hadn't logged back into the forum again till today, I will be calling the shop to confirm the drop off time for next week and I've arranged to borrow my bro in laws car for the wifey while mine is in the shop; I've got my bike so I'm covered lol. Ill keep you guys as up to date as possible. I sometimes have a difficult time logging on with my work schedule but i will do my best!

Dropped the car off earlier today. I got there jist afyer they closed thanks to a big wreck on the highway. Let's see how this goes.(popcorn)

Now that they have the car, what does this mean for us? Assuming they succeed, will they be developing maps during this process or just figuring how to do it? I know I would be interested in a power tune, 10-15% more power with some bolt ons would be great.

hopefully he can get everything squared away. i wish i had gotten my passenger mount in before taking it to him; AWR just shipped it yesterday though :(

So I'm curious where this is at. I haven't heard anything from anyone since last week. Joe at DT on Thursday or Friday mentioned that he was in the kernel working on mapping the ECU but that was it.
