The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

My little 'rolla did me proud tonight. Passing people on 90 west bound like they were standing still. No, i wasn't speeding, but going what i felt was safe for the conditions (read 40mph).

Also witnessed 2 small accidents happen behind me. Guy behind me at a red light doesn't understand to let off the gas when turning. His wheel was all the way to the left & he ended up going straight into the curb. Car behind him followed him right into the curb. It was a slow impact, but i got a good laugh out of it

Thanks for the condolences, guys and gals. It's kind of surreal because I only saw my dad once or twice a year (sadly) but he called at least once a week and sent me post cards from his occasional travels ... I don't know if it's really hit me yet. Kind of wierd. : /

Sorry for your loss. It doesn't really hit you until something big like Christmas comes along. I still occasionally find myself saying my dad would like this or that would be perfect for my mom when I Christmas shop.

Ugh, so tired. At least it's a half-day and my last real day of work for 3 weeks :)

Looks like I got out of the Protege scene at the right time back in '09. It really peaked back in '05-06 and has been spiralling downward ever since.

I need to do some work to my cars as well. Jens car needs the blizzaks put on and I plan to use her all seasons on the P5. I hope a 215-45-17 on a 17x7 (MZ6 wheel) will fit.

well ladies and gents, have a great day. off to spend the rest of the day at a jobsite... not too happy about that either (rant)

If any of you have considered Evans waterless coolant, let this picture of cleanliness convince you that it's a great idea

Random poll question: what would you rather have 4 separate 2-1/16" gauges or a single 4"+ gauge that displays all four properties simultaneously?

Trying to design the new instrument cluster for the RX7. I have 8 gauges (speed, tach, oil press, oil temp, water temp, volt, fuel level, and wideband O2) to place either in the instrument cluster or in the center console and there are some combination options out there to save space.

Less cluster looks cleaner and it would be nice to have to just glance at one gauge to see any warning lights. However, you're putting all your eggs in that one basket if you have any issues.

8 gauges? Goodness, Jon. Is one of them a clock? ;)

I would rather have 4 gauges, for me it's to much in one gauge and I prefer full sweep gauges.

As far as Evans Waterless Coolant, great stuff but not legal for a lot of sanctioning bodies and venues.

I like the idea of the 4 seperate but would depend on how it would look.

1. Speedometer
2. Tachometer

3. Oil Temperature
4. Oil Pressure
5. Water Temperature

6. Fuel Level
7. Voltmeter
8. Wideband (technically two gauges in one)

That's actually only two more gauges than I have stock. The bolded ones are those I consider vital and need to be in the cluster.

That's mainly what concerns me. There are some 4 in. options out there that are 4 180-degree sweep gauges combined so maybe they aren't that bad. I like the 270-degree sweep gauges as well for looks but the practical side of me asks if I really need that level of fidelity. As long as it's a high-quality sending unit the sweep of the gauge doesn't matter too much. With the exception of the speedometer I'm mostly just interested in certain attributes staying below/above certain limits.

Yeah, having 4 separate 2-1/16 in. gauges means I'm going to have 2-4 gauges in the center console depending on the cluster arrangement. I was trying to keep the wideband separate because no matter what it's going to look different than the other gauges (digital).

Theres a reason most race cars (that don't use a digital screen) use multiple full sweep gauges. The higher resolution makes them easier to read at a glance and you come to know where each gauge is placed so that in a glance you can check on things.
