The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Not having airbags isn't illegal.
OE seatbelts, debatable depending on your choice of belts and interpretation of the law are not automatically illegal.
Lexan windows for anything but the rear are illegal but this may change with car manufactures looking into using gorilla glass.

Depends on the car but I'll pretty much drive or ride anything...

Well I believe, in Indiana at least, it's illegal to modify or remove the SRS airbag systems as well as the seat belts unless it has the push release for the belt as you find on the standard belts.

So, I know you guys say it's kind of a social no no to trailer queen your car but, what about when it becomes not legal to drive on the street? AKA no airbags, OE seatbelts gone, plastic windows, yet still not fast.
If it's driveable on the street and not a hazard for anyone else go for it. Most safety laws are nanny laws anyway. The only person you're hurting by not abiding them is yourself. If it's a purpose-built track car and you're going to race or it's an incomplete project and you still want to show it there's nothing wrong with towing.

It's illegal to mess with a vehicle's stock airbag or restraint system. But again, who does that hurt? Don't drive around with a lexan windshield and/or rear window unless it's properly restrained. I don't want that s*** flying at me in an accident.

Haha you wouldn't have to worry about that since you're in cinnci. it will end up being a dedicated autox/track car before it's all said and done.

Sorry, didn't pay attention to the state. There are a couple companies with push button harnesses.

When I was looking into harnesses for the P5 I did some research. These Schroth harnesses are 4-point, feature an anti-submarine system and have the push-lock. However, NASA doesn't allow 4-point harnesses unless they were built for your specific car, IRCC.

What car are you talking about here?

Lol. I'd still drive it. Coming from the person with only a windshield, no top, no airbags, harnesses, no horn, no wipers, no cats, and no mufflers.

No ***** given.

Oh I wanted to add something. Spinning in 6th in the rain? How much power? Only reason I ask is because in my miata with those "warrior" tires, I can spin 4th at 50mph going straight at any rpm over 4k. And you know that car doesn't make over 100hp. But also has less weight over the drive tires....

So I gotta give Phen some s*** for this, Because 1, he's older than me and 2, it was hilarious for a minute and he may not remember.

Your drunk ass puked in and on my car. You owe me a detail and car wash. Stuff reeks of something fierce

PS, the civic is loud as hell and the gas pedal is heavier than an act 6 Puck clutch lol. Just dropped it off at your house. My buddy got stuck in his driveway taking me to pick it up

LOL. Yeah... When Evan did his swap in the silver car, I offered it to him for his use when needed. I think that lasted two trips. Hahaha. That gas pedal... I dunno what's up with it. It's always been stiff with this swap. It may be the throttle cable itself. No idea.

Morning everybody. Anyone do anything exciting over the weekend?

I spent Saturday and Sunday getting things ready for the trip to Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama next weekend:

That sounds way more fun than my weekend. I spent Friday watching Jennifer at a track meet. Saturday studying. Sunday working at the Christmas tree farm. Now I am sore as hell.
Also I need to get a trailer like that Will, dad and I measured and I am not going to be able to get the car onto the trailer we have.

I spent four hours in an unheated storage unit on Saturday getting the rear end swapped onto the silver car. Still not completely done but enough to put it back on four wheels. I also made up a Craigslist ad for all the parts I don't need so I feel like I've been on my phone 24/7.

You wouldn't happen to have a center vent available. Mine has been missing since I got the car, and it would be nice to have.

The ones above the HVAC controls? I have two sets in the S5 configuration because the PO of the silver car converted it from the S4 type. This is the best picture I can find:

What Christmas tree farm?

That sucks about your trailer. The one we have is really nice, all aluminum, electric brakes on both axles. The ramps that came with it are useless pieces of junk, but I've never used them anyways. I always thought the trailer was way too big when there's a Boxster or Miata on it. But the STi took up pretty much all of it haha.

Haha yea that's another issue I started looking on clist and most aren't wide enough for the ms3 but I will find one. Gotta get a deal though ;)
I work at Richardi's tree farm in wadsworth. I love working there but man am I sore the day after.
