I guess my dad wants to do a project with me and wants to paint the neon (he used to be an automotive paint guy) so he told me to pick a color. Also the neon does fine driving from medina to kent (40 miles) but hates driving on 71 where I get up around 70-75 (3500 rpm) and it pops out of 5th gear all the time. But never does it when I drive to a school and I do 65-70

What color? That platinum color is one of my all time favorite colors haha. The 5th gear thing is weird. Check the shifter linkage bushings on the top of the transmission. They should be pretty new and blue in color. If everything looks ok there, it just sounds like the tranny is old and worn. When I sold the car, I swapped trannies because I didn't feel like swapping the Quaife diff out. The tranny was from Craigslist and he didnt know how many miles it had. Shifted fine so I assumed it was ok. It could just be worn/old I guess. You could always get a spare and have it rebuilt? The problem I ran into there was that pull a part had almost all automatic neons.....
Edit: if you really wanted to do that, let me know. My friend in charlotte who goes to the pull a parts and strips and hoards neon parts is coming up near the end of November and he may have one he's willing to sell.
But but... The speed limit on 71 is 70so then just do 65-70 and problem solved

I mean that is fine but I think just the constant speed and holding it there at the 65-70 isn't good either. 71 you never have to slow down and its a straight shot as there are plenty of lanes and I feel like 5th just gets tired and lets go. On my way to school there is a lot of slowing down and speeding up and changing gears. So 5th doesn't take the full beating.
I am not sure on color I want to see what they have but I feel like one of the reasons I got pulled over the other day (doing 65 on 71) is because it looks like a drug car being a couple colors and I need to put the front plate on. I don't have issues going through Akron but the staties on 71 don't like it
