How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Just got my V5c.

its got Mass in service at 1490kg.

That sounds low for a 175 sport Nav AWD manual.

Kerb weight in original brochure was 1605kg, latest is 1663kg, both include a driver at 75kg, I believe.

The model on the V5c says CX-5 Sport NAV D 4x4.

Any one got that weight and model details?

Right, I find that odd, my last car a Xtrail gave 1720kg in the brochure, again including driver, while my V5c gave mass in service at 1726kg, practically the same.

Mass in service is took as kerb weight in the caravanning world. Even this video gives the kerb weight at the end of the test at 1605kg.

I'm dwelling on the weight because my caravan weighs 1565 kg, and its a no no to tow over 100%, not illegal but ill advised.

Generally very happy with it, just the gremlins that's plaguing me at the moment, i'm still trying to read all the manual, but I've got other things going on that need attention.

Main frustration is the sat nav, and Bluetooth, Bluetooth sometimes fails to connect with my phone, not sure why yet, its a Galaxy Y.

The engine is the best part of the car, its flexibility is something I had with my first xtrail ,but lost with my last one, even new it will pull from just over 1K revs, very impressed.

Does the uk sport only have one rear fog light?

Is the other a dummy?

Tom Tom Trouble

I have just had my first problem with Tom Tom. I am in Bristol at the moment and the darn thing keeps getting lost! It seems to be imagining roundabouts where there are none and the orientation of the screen keeps switching, even when I am stopped. Anyone else had similar issues? I know about the Live! problems but this is something else.

Hi Colpart,
Try an update and reset, seems similar to problems on thread

the engine is a peach, the car just fizzed past slower moving traffic on a road with limited passing opportunities. The problem I have is that the car handles so well combined with its engine that I'm forever catching up on less well put together vehicles (drive).(drive)

The manual is a bit of an epic read.... (yawn)

for your galaxy have you tried this....

my wildfire bluetooth works great.

Been on that DAD, mine is on page 52 from the Samsung list.
It is compatible.
Its hit and miss whether it connects.

And the message box is greyed out, apparently a S4 will show text messages.

Is there a firmware update available for your phone? - We've had to update phone firmware at work a few times to fix various issues.

Anyone interested UK Top Gear are showing "their VERY SERIOUS CONSUMER TEST involving caravans and tow cars" on Sunday. Preview clip shows a CX5 and others racing round track, some horizontal cornering.

No I checked a couple of days ago.

Odd thing is the phones, connected ok recently.
If I didn't know better I'd think the car was haunted.

High Revs on startup

It may be normal but to me its not acceptable.

I grew up being taught never to rev a cold engine, and allow time for the oil to circulate.

I did once have a Primera that did that, rev up to 2K on start up, but that was some years ago.
Nobody has given a reason why it should rev at start up, to me its not good for the engine, a waste of fuel, and it isn't quite!

Hi X I have exactly the same symptoms and exactly the same concerns. I tend to reverse off the drive straight away so the revs drop back to Normal operating as soon as reverse is engaged. This only started after the ECU update so I'm thinking that might be the cause of it. As to why someone would programme that in is beyond me. Will ask the service manager next time I'm passing for Mazda's spin on this ( no doubt will be told :- "They all do that Sir":(

FWIW, I've had diesels for 30 odd years, and none of them exhibited this 'revving' behaviour. Completely agree with xtrailman; my engineering background would say that minimum revs just after startup is good, no warm up and pull away asap.

Perhaps we should be asking our fellow forum followers . . . 'DO they all do this?'.

Looking forward to hearing from a CX-5 diesel owner that his/hers doesn't!!

I have emailed Mazda customer services today and complained about the excessive start up revs.

My dealer say its to enable a quick warm up.
