My New STF project...

Wow, those rivals run wide! Those are 205's right?

And congrats on the top pax! If my memory serves me correct, Lehman is the goofy looking guy that used to drive a z06 right? And why haven't you moved into pro class yet?

225's...

Yes that's the same Lehman, loud too, nice though..

I was not a regular at this Club before but I might do it. There are not too many STF competitors, we still look at our Pax results among the Nationals competitors like Derrin Dissimo, David Marcus , Craig Ellis, Teddy, Keith Robertson, Lawson Brothers , Malcom Lawson, Paul Wright, and others.

OK 225's vs 205's makes more sense. Auto-x days always seemed more entertaining when Lehman was around. There was this one incident at a PCA event where he managed to get kicked out. I would have went to way more gulf coast events if I didn't mind the drive so much. Do you ever go to any of the Ecurrie Vitesse (or something like that) events down near homestead and the keys?

I have been at two of the Keys events, a lot of fun and fast !! With nice blue water on both sides of the track look:

I think those serpentine events are the most fun "auto-x" events I've done. Very laid back. I've never tried the baybottom crawl format though. Hopefully I can visit the family next february and take a "side trip" to sugarloaf key.

Realty check....

Well after reading the latest article on Grassroot Motorsports magazine on Andy Hollis project car, I decided to re-evaluate my project and previous results. It doesn't make sence to me that a Mazda 2 , fully prepped by one of the best in the business, with no financial limitations, is getting only 103 HP at the wheels, and mine halfway prepped no tune, with Home Depot and Pep Boys stuff gets 112 HP .

So I started reviewing past my data and results. I started testing(base lines) my car at a Dynojet Dyno (same kind of what Andy used)started at 96 HP up to 98 HP; soon after I did the headers and full exhaust I did not like the results on the Dynojet so I went to a Mustang Dyno that showed well... higher numbers, actually me and Font went there before his reflash. I was told at a Mustang Dyno you can set up the settings and somehow "manipulate" results. I figured if I am following Andy's steps I better be using the same testing devices.

Now I will be going back to a different Dynojet since I just finish a new intake and also need a new base line since I will be getting some others "improvements" .

For STF there is no restrictions for HP so why not just use the same dyno all of the time to be consistent? That is the best way to see any changes in a setup.

Totally agree, the new intake feels really strong so soon I will know the changes on paper, I am also trying to get Font to come with me the same day so we can compare tuned vs. not tuned... hopefully this happens soon... Font are you there ???? ;) .

Sorry man. Just busy. I can do it soon but not this weekend.

Big thanks to Andres for letting me abuse some Rivals and his car this past Sunday. Nice driving by Andres as well, the same cannot be said of my driving.

Finally after months of research I found two different options for tuning:

1- Ecu reflash using same software from Piasini, just from a dealer with a great reputation. It will improve the performance, modifying throttle response, rev limiter , revised fuel and ignition timing. They will customize it base on your mods. They have dealers in different cities you take your car to the dealer and they will download the reflash through the obdII port, or you can mail the Ecu.

2- The other option still on the works, this one using a professional local tuner, this will be more expensive, but if done will allow total customized tuning at a dyno of your choice. Again is in the works.

any info on your Tune? costs, etc?

I am gathering all the preliminary information, dyno, fuel economy. Performance wise is incredible change the car totally, being able to stay in second gear longer and having more low end torque is very important. Throttle response changed as well. All I have to say this was a great experience as of now, very professional people and reliable with a great reputation.

I've been eyeing those 949 lugs for awhile now. I thought those DTC pads were for higher temp ranges, have they been proven yet for autocross or are you going to be a guinea pig?

I have driven the DTC-60s on the street and they seem to work just fine. They can be noisy when cold though.

Gotcha...I just imagined something meant for track driving would have dangerously low bite on the street. The ferrodo DS2500 I had on my wrx were very hard to fade, but bite on the 1st few stops when cold was noticeably less (and those were intended for street/track applications).

Yes they are noisy

They feel great , I might need to start practicing before next week, the car stops on a dime !
