The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

What, y'all don't all have an office dog? Well... working from home helps I suppose.

Is it 5 yet? lol

I'll be taking the tool back tonight. By the time I had a chance to check things out last night the shop had closed. Minimal rubbing on the tool and only place I can guess where it was used was to hold the nut of the camber bolt. There was some minor scuffing of the nut on one side. Guess the guy used them to hold it tight while he changed the camber or tightened the bolt?

Yes, Jess they are eccentric camber bolts, SPC brand.

Chris, spoiler looks good.

This thread is uber exciting today.

All of the threads have been like this lately. I think people are still in hibernation mode and thawing out still. Can't wait until this semester of school is done and the car is fully functional. I tend to get a lot of looks driving the MSP back home without a hood, one fender, and no front bumper.

I can't concentrate at work... waiting for my plug wires to get here tomorrow so I can drive the MSM properly and tune the tru-boost. Also planning what to do in NYC next week and what to do once I'm in the motherland. Dreading a talk with my dad who is going to guilt me into moving back, he has already given me hints about this... so I'm doing a little research to have arguments on how that wouldn't go very well.

I meant to ask you yesterday but I'll ask here so you can share, what are you going to NYC for? A mini vacation?

Basically it costs me the same to drive to NY and fly down than to fly down from here, so since my cousin has been giving me crap for not visiting her I figured I might as well combine both trips. So I'm driving there on Thursday, flying down on Monday, flying back on Saturday and driving back on Sunday. I'm leaving the MSM at my cousin's place in CT and spending the rest of the time in NYC.

There are several arguments against moving back, just gotta give some reasoning that makes sense.

^Just tell him you can't live without Team Ohio.

This is somewhat part of a problem for me: there is only 1 autox club in the whole ******* country, obviously in a different city and its for BMW owners only. There is auto racing, but no HPDEs or anything like that. Also, gas is stupid expensive, $4.8 USD for 87 gas (rate as of today) and we don't drive on the highway as much as we do here, so it would pretty much be city driving with lots of hills so mpgs will suck ass.

I took a quick look at used cars, holy crap they're expensive... '07 Mazda 3 with 12k miles, $14k USD -> that might not sound bad here, but consider salaries are way different, so it would actually end up being more like double that.

Job wise would also suck, I would pretty much have to start from scratch since I never got my professional license as an Engineer, and the experience required for jobs is only counted after you get your license, so I have zero experience. When you add up all the costs for car payment, gas, rent, etc I can't cover all of it, especially in Bogota where the car scene is.

When you talk about the car scene in Colombia I think of that South American TopGear episode. haha

That sounds like a pretty good reason right there.

I would just say, Dad i love you, but im a grown ass man, i can make my own decisions, and i decide i want to continue living in the US

That would be one way to do it, but it feels like when I was told as a kid "because I said so". Being away from my family sucks sometimes, so listing out logical reasons would provide some conversation.
