The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

well it was nice knowing you Will... since you are selling the speed3 and getting a Subaru you are out of the club..... GOODBYE!

I knew you wouldn't let me hang with you guys anymore :( But seriously, I'll still have the Miata so I'll continue to hang around whether you like it or not! And, I'll always be a huge Mazda fan.

I'm sure some of you have sold a vehicle privately before so maybe you can confirm the process. It sounds pretty straight forward, just sign the back of the title with the buyer in the presence of a notary and complete the odometer disclosure form and I should be good to go? Does the buyer take care of everything after that point?

Looking at buying my tickets for the wife and I to fly out to Ohio for the Grand-Am race in June. Any recommended hotels near the airport in the Cleveland area? Probably get there on Thursday morning/afternoon, so just need a room for that night.

I have no recommendations near the airport... But if you're interested in staying near the track the Paddock Inn is the place to stay!

I can't say this enough have them sign a bill of sale. I have a really good one I can send to you that was written up by the attorneys at Westfield insurance (I work there) and it saves me when the person tried to sue me over the sale of my civic. Lets know if you want it or not.

Or you can be cool like us and stay at the campground like us and wake up to screaming motors in the morning.

I think we already have plans to stay at the cabins with Phen and Marlon. Just looking for a place to stay on that Thursday night before we head down Friday morning.

If I'm reading it right, you're the seller. Do what pmartz16 said, and do a bill of sale. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, and most states have generic & specific bills of sale on their websites (GA does). Plus do the transaction at the buyer's bank if doing it via check (and get a cashier's check, as it draws the money from their account immediately. No rubber check that way). That way they can get a cashier's check cut there at the counter, and there's no question as to the legitimacy of it. If cash, do it at your bank so you can deposit it right away, without you walking around with a wad of cash in your pocket. Those are the best ways to protect yourself from getting scammed.

Pretty much any bank has notaries, call ahead and see if you can schedule it with them, and they'll have an office to do the transaction in private w/ the notary, so you're not flashing wads of cash out in the lobby / in a walmart parking lot ;)

Cres, you're more than welcome to stay at my house. I'll be moved in by then and will have 3 empty bedrooms upstairs and a full bath for you guys. Plus JT and his wife will probably be there too.

so now the question is...go thru the hassle of building an engine or spend 3x as much buying a new car?

You're seriously not going to use the upstairs at all, huh? hahaha

LOL! Shut up.

Yeah, I mean I'm so used to doing everything in my room having a whole floor is going to be nice. But I won't know what to do with a whole HOUSE! Plus I don't have much furniture anyway. I'll make one of the bedrooms a guest bedroom for family/friends. When you come back you'll have to come check it out. I've got a good floor plan for the living room/band room. It will be sweet.

And I'll have a house warming party, but no gifts allowed. Phen was asking when I'm having it so he can make some kind of appetizers. lulz. But I'm super excited to move in and set up the garage for my P5 and set up the living room with acoustic treatment so my band can start practicing there. :)

But I haz no race car. Or money for parts now that my rent doubled. Haha

well, you need a race car if you wanna be one of the cool kids...

I'm considering the idea of buying a house, late this year or early next. Looking around to see what's out there, don't really know where though as I don't know much about neighborhoods and cities... I just know a few places to stay away from. Found one that I like, its been in the market for a while but who knows if it'll be available whenever I'm in a position to make an offer
