hello everyone so i am looking to buy a turbo from one of the members in this forum and ive been doin gsome research but would like to get some personal opinions and advise on how to install and what ya think is better for me to do.
1)The turbo is a T28rs (w/welded shut wastegate, Tial external wastegate,, and dp) which from the little research ive done i understand that no internal work to the engines needs to be done is that correct?( HOWEVER i do have an fmic to install and also 2.5' exhaust )
2) can i run this set up with out chaging the ecu that comes on the 2003.5 MSP? (in the future i am looking to upgrade to a split second but nott yet)
3) how hard is it to install?
4) any comments or advice i may need? maybe how to run the oil lines or anything like that?

split second is required for any other turbo than stock, my split second FIC s*** the bed on me and iv been running stock ecu and no piggy back for about a year and i cant go into boost over about 3-4 psi without hitting fuel cut.

you CAN run it with the stock ecu, but u wont enjoy the vehicle as stated above. youll hit fuel cut until you have some sort of fuel management. hell its hard to enjoy a stock t25 at all without fuel management. and defintiely keep the boost low at stock levels unless you have a built block to handle more boost

I hope you have a manifold to go with that setup, cuz you can't use that external wastegate with the stock mani.

1) No internal work is *needed* but would be recommended. The 28RS is a noticeably bigger turbo than the stock one, so you'll be more likely to cause some sort of internal damage if you're planning on running higher boost on stock rods. I think most people suggest 4-5 psi on stock internals with a 28RS.
2) Stock ECU will be fine at first, but if you want to make full use of the turbo you will need some sort of fuel management. But even with a SS AFC you'll still be limited by the weak stock rods.
3) Install shouldn't be much different than if you were reinstalling the stocker. You'll need to clock the housing a bit but that's pretty easy. I would also suggest you get new hardware and gaskets.

I am gonna buy the entire kit with many also so that's not a problem an yea I will deff buy new hardware and gaskets thanks for the info very good to know

I notice ppl that upgrade their turbo to a t28rs also upgrade their fuel pump and injectors to 440cc? Is it a must.?

ive never personally delt with this but i would believe that you would want forged internals before you worry about bigger injectors and a better pump since most likely the boost youll be limited to without doing dammage to the stock internals probably wont need all that stuff. Def an upgrade for when you get some sort of piggy back/EMS to utilize better fuel control

yea i guess i will have to go ahead and wait for installation , i want to make sure i do this correctly instead of going the cheap way and end up being more expensiveat the long run

definitely do your research first! trust me, ive been through 3 motors already because i thought i knew everything.. always better to ask questions and not cut corners. i learned the hard way lol.
