03 Red MP5 - Sold
Hi everyone. Needs some help figuring out where I can get a replacement bolt for the shifter linkage. At least thats what i think its called.
I need the bolt that connects the shifter to the long arm that runs from the tranny to the shifter. The opposite side of the 3rd link side.
If anyone can tell me where I can order or buy this it would be greatly appreciated. Ordered wrong part 2 weeks ago and have been waiting on that to come in.. and when it finally gets here.... wrong part :(.. so now im still stuck in second gear lol.

Thanks for all the help!
Josh

Oh and I already checked with Mazda, so dont suggest I just go to a dealer please :)

Aparently it's only sold as part of the shifter assembly.. a $300 part... :|

dunno the exact "size" of the bolt off the top of my head (mine's different since I swapped).

Take it off and take it to a hardware store - they have the sizing charts and fitment nut/bolt charts to check the sizing of the bolt.

This is the bolt on the bottom of the shift lever, that's attached to the linkage?

Or - is it the bolt that attaches the linkage, via that funky U-joint thingie - to the trans shifter?

this bolt?

It's the one on the bottom of the shift lever... I was just thinking too.. TWM might be able to sell me just the bolt since im pretty sure it comes with their short shifters

Don't know if that would be a different size for any reason though

so this bolt, right?

The manual I have doesn't outline what size/threadpitch it is - BUT! -

A quick search of TWM's site shows this:

Oh sweet! thanks for finding that... wonder if hardware stores sell a smooth then threaded bolt like that. Any idea what type of bolt that is?

you'd have to go to the store and just grab a few different types I'd say - to really gauge which one will work for you.

Well, I tried that today. You'd be suprised by the confused faces when people see this bolt!

For anyone else that stubles apon this thread in search of help, here's what I've discovered so far:

It's a M10 bolt with the thread size milled down to a M8 X 1.25
It's known as an axel bolt and the select in hardware stores in slim to none.

It seems it's more of a custom job. The only part I haven't figured out yet is the lenght of each section; The smooth section and the threaded section.

For now my solution is to use the bolt that came in the Corksport 3rd Link kit. It's a bit too long, but I bought some M10 washers to take up the slack on the head side. I'll report back on my progress when I get it in tomorrow!

Thanks for the help ihone! Always aprrectiated.
