thought I would drop some of these pictures for those wanting a little pictorial guidance in some common front end work.

first let's start with the bumper.

Next is the steps required to remove the bumper from the clips mounting it to the fenders

viola, all your front end widgets and tom-foolery are exposed. Swap fog lights, add sweet red car horns, dangle stuffed animals, ect.

if you thought "hey I want to paint my badges but I don't want to tape them off." then here is how the front badge pops out (flat head screwdriver used to press the clips)

and

lastly those ambers

leave your car somewhere that a 30 foot extension ladder could possibly fall from a height of, near, or around 15 feet. Now this requires a stroke of dumb luck, and just perfect timing. but here is what it should look like

Now that is done, remove the headlight via the two last bolts and shake all the nonsense out of it. Those plastic bits can be hazardous at freeway speeds

enjoy

great pics for helping out! Sorry for your mishap dude!

Question - Did you have plans to do anything with the ambers or were you just going through the motions?

mostly yes, it interests me to remove/tint them. I did notice that it's a similar clip in fastener as the front badge. I mean, hell, if a ladder can eject that thing 40+ feet from the scene of the crime, I'm sure someone with a heat gun/oven, an evening, and a flathead screwdriver could wrestle that bastard out of there

OUCH! Man - sorry to see that. I do want to open up my lights and get the amber lenses out myself, although sans-extension ladder ^_^. Thank you for posting photos and write-up on removing the bumper. All of these write-ups make it so much faster to do these projects...

horray I fixed my headlight

It was a toss up, Bacon bandaids, camo tape, or transformers. Thought maybe some energon could make it so I wouldn't have to order a new one from the factory... 312 bucks. At that price I would rather buy a rad CorkSport part and just spend 20 bucks at home depot turning the void that should be a headlight into a fishbowl. If a cop stops me I might be able to convince him that my car is small enough, I really only need one headlight....

Serious note, I'm planning on adding and actual section here showing people how to get that amber turd outta there. I feel bad for leading some of you on.

do it! I've been dying to get the amber out of my headlight. my condolences to your headlight btw

Have you replaced your headlight yet? You can find em alot cheaper at salvage yards. Try car-part.com if you haven't done em already.

It would be nice, but at the moment I'm just looking for a regular OEM Mazda headlight. I hit a deer the other night going about 40-45 mph and broke the headlight and dented the fender a little, and also popped the bumper loose. The car did pretty good considering how hard I hit it. Basically I was wondering if the parts this website sells are genuine Mazda parts.

Yes you are fine.

Sweet. How do they sell the parts so cheaply? (Compared to other Mazda dealerships?)
