Yay or Nay?

1988 15x7 Toyota 4Runner rims
White paint or powder coating
BF Goodrich 215/65R15 performance all seasons

Wheels will stick out about 1" further than right now, and the tire diameter is about 3/4" taller which will correct the speedometer. I can get the wheels locally for $100 and I can get blank center caps on eBay for $50. I'll put Mazda M stickers on them but a savvy viewer will still recognize them as Toyota wheels. They were used on several of their 80's trucks...just never with this low profile of a tire.

How much will powder coating cost?

Coat can range from $50-100 a wheel, depending on who does it and the amount of prep work required. I think it fits the truck pretty well.

period wise they look like they'd fit.

I'd want something a bit more aggressive, but I can't really find any pictures of what I'm thinking of.

By more aggressive I'm assuming you mean wider stance? I'm not a fan of the "roller skate" look. I'd like the wheels to fit inside the fenders as much as possible.

This is not the look I'm going for...

gosh no.. no rollerskates.. I was thinking something more "truck" looking, but in the same size range of what you are looking at.

yeah, without a picture of what I'm thinking of, I make absolutely no sense. though that shouldn't be too much different than what normally comes out of my mouth lol.

I think I know what you're thinking of...but the problem with the REPU is the front hubs are very far outward, so you can't install a deep dish truck-like wheel without having them stick out beyond the fenders.

I toyed with going with 14x5.5 or 14x6 wheels for the OEM look, but no one makes that size in 6 lug anymore and with a 7" rim and matching tire I can haul more weight (if I decide to install a hitch).

The rims in the photo above are Appliance Mesh. I've seen them appear on eBay in 5 lug but never 6. One person on the west coast has a set imported from Japan on his Datsun 620. I offered to buy them but he said he bought the truck specifically for the rims.

yeah, those are the words that escaped me. I was thinking of deep dish 80's truck wheels. Like a nicer version of what you'd see on an old school blazer, or an F150 or something.

morning...looking forward to some R&R come fri....making are way to NH do a little sight seeing and just relax. car's running great! maybe it's just me but the car seems to respond better to the new intake, of course it cooled down right after i installed it and we know how cooler intake temps are betta. we'll see what happens fri, supposed to be back in the 90's...the traffic will be heavy as always so i'll be sure to watch the temps and see how it does.
no news on the buyers selling their place, they did say they had a very interested party, but who knows what that really means...had to replace all my smoke detectors (need to be replaced every 10 yrs, mine were 22 yrs) and add carbon monoxide detectors...had to do a bit of work on my fire alarm panel, board was fried and the trans was gonzo too. need to do a little rewiring as my mom's apartment, although tied into the panle is not part of the "loop" and when our detectors go off hers doesn't. not good. after that all my "get the house ready for inspections" is done.

yo yo! Recorded a new drum'n'bass mix a few days ago, on the deep, liquid tip, for anyone who likes that that genre of music: mp3, mixcloud

Waiting on the Florida seller to get back to me. Went to look at a 49K mile yellow P5 in Newton last night: rear quarter panel rust starting, car is lowered, who knows what other mods, left w/o waiting for the seller to come out of his house.

that stinks.. I suppose that's a testament to salt/rust in the northeast.. 49k miles, rust.

Will you be driving past Londonderry on Friday? Let me know if you want to swing by for lunch/dinner or something. I'll be working from home.
