motor build?

So i brought the 2871r to alamo along with a stock t25 to compare it to how the stock on is clocked and they told me there gonna have to make a new bracket for the wastegate god damnit lol so another 300 into this custom turbo and i still gotta buy couplers

Pics of everything are in the FS forum.

Why didn't you make a bracket? **** for $100 I could have welded something up for you!

I don't want to sound like a boob, but I think the store is effing you a bit , (unless
That is the sexiest bracket on the planet)

That's what I mean. Isn't there a tutorial thread on here about doing the swap? Thought u could even just modify the stock bracket?

Alamo isn't cheap, but they do good work. For $300 though I'd expect a gold plated work of turbo art!

The 300 wasn't just for the bracket. It was for the labour to make the bracket, most likely modify the actuator rod, diasssemble the housings and rotate, then assemble according to specifications. Did they clean your parts up or leave them as is?

If he didn't feel comfortable doing it its better to pay money to have t done right then screw something up.

...diasssemble the housings and rotate, then assemble according to specifications.

Loosen 6 bolts on each side and turn?

I won't argue, Alamo does good work, but I guess my point is that no matter how you slice it, $300 is a LOT of money for what he's having done. I seem to remember getting a full CHRA rebuilt and a wheel swap for about that much...

They will be cleaning the fittings up. I do feel there kind of ******* me over a bit i spend around 600 with them origionally to modify the 2871r to fit a t25 flange and the way they did it theres no possible way to fit an exhaust manifold on. They seem to be more concerned with me paying them than me actually getting a functional turbo. I understand custom work is not cheap but at the same time they seem to not really think cost is an issue for anyone

ya its a bit pricey and thats just an estimate not even a quote kinda pisses me off cuz this is what they did last time they quoted me 400 and when i went to pick up the turbo it suddenly jumped to 600-700 dollars and i had no choice but to pay since work was allready done

Why do u mean swap to a T25 flange?? I thought the 2871 was T25 flanged already?

Dude, you are getting bent the **** over here. For what you've spent, you could have gone with an externally gated setup and a brand new turbo.

Ya i know but i allready have all this money invested in this turbo i cant just give up and buy a whole new one

Could of had two turbos instead of one, and earned a little bit back from selling the second one.
Lol god damnit why is everyone giving me a hard time about my turbo. I would have just bought one if i new of all the bulls*** that was involved

So Calgary has decided to be extra hurt and there gonna be passing a noise violation law in the next month with some sort of sound sensors that will be sending me tickets in the mail. Anyone installed a cutout before on there corksport exhaust?

Don't worry about it. They've been talking about doing this for years, but no one will get caught unless you ride a loud ass harley or something. Follow the thread over on Beyond.ca
