I'm gonna tell you why Owning/modding a Mazda is so much better than a Honda....

If you go to a Honda meet heres what you'll see:
Black EG with slips, Teal EG with slips, Black EG with slips, Blue EG with slips,
Red DC with DR20s, White DC with DR20s, Silver DC with DR20s, Green DC with DR20s,
Purple Lower Control Arms that dont increase performance, Gold Lower Control Arms that dont increase performance, Red Lower Control Arms that dont increase performance. 80 sets of 50/50 tails. Cut springs, cut springs cut springs...

And under the hoods..... D16z6,D16z6,D16z6,D16z6,D16z6, LS/V,LS/V,LS/V,LS/V, GSR,GSR,GSR,GSR,H22,H22,H22,H22,H22,H22, maybe 2 or 3 K swapped EGs/EKs

And the worst part of it is, If we both have EJ1s (EG ex coupe) both with LS Swaps that dyno the same amount of power, Someone will still be talkin s*** saying they'll beat the other

Dont get me wrong Im not bashing Hondas... just 90% of their owners and the total LACK of originality there is in the Honda scene.

Plus... For the most part us Mazda guys dont have to worry about theives

Hahaha hahaha alright boys I started this post and you guys think I'm bashing on MSP's..... just drove my room mates 06 Jetta GLI..... BBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOO LOL MSP IS DEF AWESOME. Gli is quiet as hell and smooth with no turbo lag. But MSP is louder, tourqier, and way better handling and performance. LoL like I said.... this beast is growing on me hahah

Its not something I look for, but my CAI turbo spool and forge wastegate aremusic to my ears. I could def do without the straight pipes tho. I need a muffler.

Smartasses, lets male fun of the N/A Honda kid lmfao Sorry BPV, since I don't have BOV, maybe its my tires lmfao jk! Lol idc tho. POINT OF THE STORY IS.... IM NOT "DOGGING" it, MSP has really grown on me. 06 GLI is about as good as VW gets. It was just funny seeing a true OEM 2.0T compared to a tuner version.

And on a sidenote, the whole reason I drove it was my wife was using the MSP so I had no car for lunch, AAAAANNYWAYS! SHE LOVED IT! SHE WANTS A MAZDA 3 NOW!!!
 
Actually I dont drink but I've been really thinking of taking up drinking as a new hobby hahah

Also, pushed her a little harder today. Forge wastegate is apparently set at 10PSI. Its amazing how you can run vacuum, basically N/A, more gas = more boost and power. IMO but its new to me. I've been feather footing her and today I thought to myself "I think she has more".

It makes me sad to think it took me so long to find my soul mate hahahah I LOVE MY MSP! IM SORRY FOR ANYONE I MY HAVE OFFENDED PREVIOUSLY HAHAH

Correctomundo.... I was TOLD it's "forged" "wiseco" dont know about rods, But thatd be the important part not the pistons. I still havent been able to rip out the oil pan and take a look for myself tho. As I said, Ive been feather footing her. I just had a feeling she had a little more in the pedal even at .5 bar, mid gear. She pulled happily to a lil under .7 bar through the gear.

Its nice having her a month and getting outta that NEW CAR: "what can she do?", "IS SHE GONNA BLOW?" phase. Ive been driving slower and calmer lately. Besides my daily few miles of open highway to work ;-) LOL

Def gotta say, I wish I drove an MSP sooner hahahah
 
Whats up guys, New MSP owner here. I recently picked up 03 Black Mica MSP #86 in a trade for an LS/VTEC Civic coupe. (03MSP86.blogspot.com for the story and pictures of both cars) I picked it up with the turbo basically hanging off the Manifold. It was held on by 3 studs, which is actually 2 because 1 kept loosening. So 2 studs holding onto the turbo. Sounds like a great idea doesnt it?! So needless to say I didnt want to judge and count my chickens before digging in and getting that all clamped down properly. I did that this weekend..... So now let me say...... THIS THING IS WEAK!! lmfao I think the Civic was faster, smoother, and more reliable. But I needed a four door. Thats besides the point tho, MY POINT IS:: "What was Mazda/Callaway thinking with internals and EMS????" seriously now? I cant get on the throttle more than 1/2 way before 4k rpm because of the EMS and crazy bucking. No smoothness whatsoever. I mean obviously this will be fixed with SS-AFC but thats besides the point. The point is "What was Mazda/Callaway thinking with internals and EMS????" HAHAHA I really expected more. With more boost and more power obviously comes more problems. I expect to replace a turbo, maybe redo a block, even LSD, but man throw on top the bucking and your left with "WTF?" Clearly they just slapped a turbo on a Protege.....

What are you guys thoughts? Do you remember your first impressions of the car? And what do you feel made the biggest improvement? OBV SS-AFC?

Sorry if I offend any die hards, no bashing intended, I truely do love this vehicle, "after 10-15 grand of over night parts from JAPAN" HAHAH

It doesn't matter what the car runs like stock because there are hardly any stock MSPs left anymore. I had hesitation for over a year and it drove me nuts but I love the car to death now. All you need are Solid motor mounts, AFC, FMIC/hardpipes/bov, EBC, and exhaust to have plenty of fun in an MSP.

Also wanted to mention the Protege was NOT poorly thought out, from a mechanic's standpoint the car is a breeze to work on and very reliable. They gave the MSP a rich tune because they knew the first thing people would do is throw an MBC on it and crank the boost to 20psi.
