GI: Replacement exhaust manifold

I guess once we see how good it works, we'll have no problem with how it looks. I'm leaning towards function over form.

So heres the plan. The pricing will remain the same for the short #4. The long routing will be an option priced at around $50. That way everyone can have what they want.

Pope if you need someone to test fit one let me know ;) all I need is the Mani with a O2 don't need egr

I want to see the final product of both #4 runners designs. When we can see it?

I won't be building any manifolds for inventory so the only pics of finished manifolds will be for orders. I guess what I'm saying is that there won't be any side by side pics unless I have an order for each style at the same time. There are 5 manifolds pre-ordered and unless I hear otherwise I'm going to build them with short runners. Pre-order guys: shoot me a pm with your preference so I can get these things shipped. I have 2 manifolds just about ready with the exception of #4.

Hey, I'll be the one to say "Screw MAM!"

MAM made like five decent manifolds and then f'ed a bunch of people. I for one appreciate what you're doing, and don't want a MAM replica, I want a Pope manifold. My MAM manifold didn't even fit in the car! And FYI, it wasn"t equal length. And it cost twice as much.

That is all. I'll be in touch soon.

Britt

considering you want this to be a stock replacement, I wouldn't be terribly worried about even lengths. the steedspeed wasn't, thunder wasn't, mam wasn't. you really don't have the room to do it unless you either build down, and do a top mount turbo setup. that would be pretty sweet if you could offer it with a matching downpipe, for around $1000.

still pending to see what a finished one looks like, on a car before ill drop $550, but liking what i see so far.

A manifold and downpipe will be well under $900 shipped with all the popular options. Both manifolds and the downpipe should come in not much higher than people have paid for just an exhaust system.

Any pictures of manifolds ready to go

I have to finish welding before I'm going to bother taking any more pics - there just isn't much to see. I have highflyin's manifold almost ready and he's also getting a downpipe as well so I'm going to mount it all up on my engine in the garage with his tial wastegate so I can route the dump tube. I'll get some pics up at that point. I'm headed to St Louis for the rest of the week for the FIRST Robotics world championships so there won't be any pics for about a week.

well, I haven't been around for a while, and was sad to see that the steedspeed mani was discontinued, because after taking the heat shield off today because it was rattling (broke off 2 bolts before, and don't feel like drilling them out) I found that I'm pretty sure I have 1 hairline crack, maybe 2 in the manifold, which would explain a few things I've been noticing.. so hopefully this things gets all set within the next few months, would be nice to get, and can't wait to see a dyno run with it! I will actually look through the thread to see what I missed, but don't have the time at the moment.

Pope, I'll send a Pm for everything else, but after reading the 2nd half of the posts, I think I have it set that you used the stronger 409(?) and is there an option for us to get it ceramic coated all shinny? lol I just want to get things figured out now so that I can get some money saved up after I pay for the car insurance and get my old/crap cracked stock mani out of there!

thanks

oh, and it is really awesome that your doing this! the exhaust mani for our cars seems to be a bad market. well most things for our cars seems bad, but it also makes it cool because it's rare.. so yeah, thanks! and it really looks like you've got all the great functional details down, and can't wait to see some dynos once people get them all setup.

I'm not planning to do any coatings, but I haven't ruled it out. The manifolds are 304SS and polish right up if you're after the shine. I'm going to wrap mine in black thermal wrap, I could get it coated to hold in a lot of the heat, but the wrap is simpler and I already have it. I'll be putting in a couple hours tomorrow and should have some pics to post.
