Do I Really need the Hubcentric Ring for aftermarket wheels? I already have a set of BLACK 15x7.5 6UL's pre-ordered for May. Also, What exactly does the Hubcentric ring do?

Without the hubcentric ring you will have to torque the lug nuts with the wheel in the air. You would be running a lugcentric fitment that way. The ring helps center the wheel on the hub by adapting the wheel's hub bore to the hub's bore size. I run lugcentric on my Miata simply because there is no adapter ring available for the size I've got. I would say just get the dang rings. They'll make your life a lot easier.

Ask around thoug... some people have had rings seize onto hubs due to heat or something... I dunno lol

I've never run them on any of my cars. I just make sure to go around the wheel tightening the lugs evenly to pull the wheel on.

they don't say you need the rings for the 15x7.5, they say you need it for the 15x8

Thanks for all the input! I think I'll go ahead and do without the rings for now. And if I really need them in the future I can always order a set.

If it were me, I would run them. I can't tell you how many times I've seen cars come in to the dealerships I've worked at with aftermarket wheels and either not have rings on or missing 1 or 2 and complaining of vibrations while driving. Obviously they keep the wheel centered on the hub. Most places include them with the purchase of your wheels or only charge a couple bucks for them. If you're worried about the ring seizing to the hub, just coat it with some anti-seize and there will be no problems.
It's up to you. It's your car and your wheels and possibly your headache. Why not spend the extra couple bucks and throw them on?

I assumed you wouldn't need Hubcentric rings for the 6UL since the bore is pretty much Mazda specific. Does a spec miata have a different bore than a 2?

Hubcentric rings not only center the wheel to the hub they also transfer the weight of the vehicle to the wheels. Lug nuts are only made to keep the wheel from moving laterally. They make em for a reason and I suggest you use them. They are also very cheap.

A lot of people notice vibes at higher speeds without them. I always recommend them. When you tighten lugs you run the risk of getting off center and can cause ride disturbance. But I see wheels without them all the time. If you don't use them I recommend finger tighten in air first. Oh and make sure whoever balances them to do so dynamic alloy 2 and allways cone from the back of wheel. And if you want to go the extra mile have them road force variance balanced. My 2 cents use it wisely.

Hub rings 73.0-54.1 Excalibur and Gorilla are best and they come in anodized aluminum. They shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks.
