02 MP5 rust

how bad do you think this is? The rust at the emblems will be an easy fix though (emblems will be permanently removed).

120,xxx miles on it btw.

1. Sand the rusted surface
2. Fiberglass behind rust holes
3. Body filler
4. Sand / wetsand
5. primer
6. topcoat + polish
 
I'm thinking the rear part of the wheel well is going to need to be cut out and replaced...

This will result in the bondo eventually cracking off due to moisture getting behind it.

Sand and you could use naval jelly to remove the rust and leave bare metal

You'll be there for days trying to sand rust off. lol The scale can be grinded off, then either a wire wheel to get into all the pits, or the best method is sandblasting.

+1. The passenger side looks solid enough still that patchwork won't be needed, but where the bumper meets the quarter panel on the driver side looks like there will be a hole there. I'd question how solid the metal still is behind the rust on the hatch as well...those are some pretty big spots.
