What have you done to your MS3 today?

strapped down last night along with a few others for some final tweaking....

323whp/361wtq

eff this turbo!

lol, 106k buddy, s**** gonna start to go. a headgasket sucks tho...

how bad is it? you got oil in your coolant? snot in the oil?

is it bad that i just turned 36k?

hahaha really. that many miles in ANY car is gonna have problems

head gaskets do suck. in most cases you have to machine the block and head to make sure everything is nice and smooth and level for a new gasket. not to mention the time and effort it takes to drain and unistall about 1,000 things, and then refill and reinstall them when you're done

106k and the HG is shot already. Eww..

I hate you, Mike. I bought mine Sept of 2010 with 37k. :( Now it was 60k. But at least I don't have to drive it through the salt and s***.

theres a small drip of milky oil at the bottom of the dipstick, and coolant is sorta dark. idk what the deal is. no CEL. small lose in power but its always 0-20 degrees lately.

and it smoked blue smoke when i boost to 5-10psi but i just updated my hypertech to SURE because they havnt updated till now.

drove it 4 years
at 260K it started mixin oil and water
figured cacked head

later, after I sold it for 275
I found out it was not a cracked head,... just a gasket

that truck owes me so nuthin

OMG
a head gasket swap on a inline 4

ooooooooooh
that must require 4 or 5 hours of time
pretty sure mazda did that machining for you

WAX ON

WAX OFF

Not everyone has the time and tools for that job

and if there is damage to the mating surfaces it would have to be resurfaced before putting a new gasket on

provided he didnt overheat theres no real worry

just need to get new hardware (arp head studs)
and a new timing chain
and new tensioner

22R = bullitproof

Lets see some pics of that RD. I have a friend that has an RZ350 and a couple of RZ500s. I've always loved 2 smokes.

sodo my headgasket i need to order the (gasket & apr studs $250) and timing chain and tensioner($__). can i do this with the engine still bolted down?

Finally got the methanol issue straightened out. Injecting perfectly now. LED indicator telling me it comes on too.

Nao it's time to work on the efficiency of the whole setup: need cbe, turbo mani, better intercooler and piping.

chain,(and spockets) is just good practice while its opened up
studs? unless you've built like yours, with a much higher BMEP I don't see the need
by tensioner, I assume u mean the chain follower? mebbe some don't wear much

yeah, I got rid of mine cuz it was puttin water in the oil with the rad cap on, and oil in the water with it off
was certain the head was cracked
was assured later by a toy mech that i almost certainly had a exotic head gasket failure

I may find a pic someday and scan it in
I was a machinist at Hills Mcanna so I had access to hasteloy C and titanium
bits of that made its way onto the bike
bought a cdi ignition (point float sux at 10,500)
hogged out the barrels and fitted 6 petal reeds from a dt360
and then had a go at jetting the 36mm Mikunis

the best mod was using some math and a rotary table to machine a 17 tooth front sprocket
could just barely get to redline with that

very lucky to be alive

i would replace the head studs, typically they yield and stretch, especially at 100k+ no need to tempt fate with a 2nd failure
