After just missing out on a set of sweet 17" Mazda3 rims & Blizzaks with TPMS and summer storage bag on Craigslist for $400 (doh!!!) I found another local seller and bought four Sport Edition 17x7 E1s with 215/50R17 Blizzak WS-60s for $450.
The 53mm offset is a bit more than the stock 45mm, but before buying test fitted a front and back and drove around the block to make sure there was no rubbing.
The overall diameter is only 1/2" more than stock so very little change in speedo reading (about 817 revs/mile vs 833, at ~70mph the speedo reads ~4-5mph less than GPS-indicated).
The seller used them for 3 winters on his MazdaSpeed 6, tread depth is 10/32" vs. 12/32" stock so I should get at least 4 or 5 winters out of them. The little yellow TPMS light on the dash is easy to ignore.
I think they look good - not the exact style I would have chosen but the chunkier size works and saving $600 over the cost of an identical new set-up from Tirerack works for me! Covers the expensive Weathertech floor mats and Miata shift knob, and then some :)
Bring on the snow!!!

Thanks - they'll do the job and are pretty easy to clean.
I had my eye on something a bit wilder, like these from Tirerack (~$100 each).
Maybe when the stock 16" tires wear out....

I had a set of stock 17" from a 3 that I used for my MS3 winter set. The speed is no longer in my possession, but the wheels with newish Yoko winters still are. So they made the quick transfer to the 5.

This pic makes me realize that the 5 needs tint in the worst way. Actually, it was the hour long drive today in the sun that made me realize it.

Tint next weekend.
