Welcome aboard Nate!
What can I expect with an MSP exhaust on my P5?

I know I want the motion decreased but I am not sure I want the shifter to be lower. Are there options for installing them?

Well the TWM knob I got has an adjustment "nut" that threads onto the shifter then the knob threads onto that. So you can have the knob mounted near the top or lower down. Again, to me, the shift knob has always been the crown jewel in my cars so I've always splurged a bit with them. Especially since you touch it a million times a day. Check out Wes's new TWM shift knob. It's supa-fresh, yO!

Sedan exhausts are longer than the P5. Everything fits just fine but the tip will stick out a few inches. This is all in the axleback portion so it is very easy for someone like Josh to cut out a small section and reweld it.

Ok so I won't be able to keep the taller shifter then. Then again a short shaft makes a shorter throw right?

Phen had mentioned that the MSP exhaust was on the long side. Will there be any gains from MSP system power wise, or sound, or both?

Picures of a stock P5 with tinted windows? I didn't see the point. I will put some up eventually.

Larry, we have the TWM shift knobs in all tkqkqkq!hree cars, mated with the Mazdaspeed Short Shifter. The difference is amazing, smoother shifts, shorter throws, no missed shifts. Laurie has the. Black Pearl version of the Desert Eagle, you can check it out tonite if you want. I have the old school. 44 Magnum in the waggin it weighs two pounds. Personally I would focus on the suspension first and tuhen move on to the engine.

Thanks for the shift knob input Marlon. I looked at some shift knobs on Ebay. Kinda pricey to be honest, don't get me wrong I am sure they do what they are designed to do. Most likely though, I will pass on the weighted shift knob for no other reason but cost. I do plan suspension stuff first. I need some "expert" advice so that I know what to direction to go in and what to expect.

it's been so long since I've had mine in but it was a noticeable loud, as in not quiet like stock but not loud like an after market exhaust. It had a lower tone to it. I can't really remember to give you a good description of it

I just worry what it would sound like on a non-turbo car. It is my understanding it's not real good but, that is from an internet source.

Crazy but good here Larry which I'm sure you are familiar with....seeing that you have the new-to-you P5 and bouncing baby boy!!! BTW Congrats to you and Jen, can't remember if I posted in your other thread. lol IMO the MSP sounds good on the P5. I had one and ran it for a few years before swapping it out for the Thermal. Thought I had a vid posted in the 'exhaust thread' but couldn't find it. Pretty sure I still have it in my photobucket account and if so will post it up later....not the best quality as I used our old point and shoot and I never got an in-cabin vid. I thought it had a nice tone...a bit tamer on the outside but with stock header and a nice tone in cabin at WOT....drone would come in around 3500 rpms when cruising but I never cruised at those rpms for too long.

No help on the shifter...with my single throws from P to D and D to R and R to P and well you get the idea, I never thought it was practical to buy a shortshifter. ;)

forgot about that aspect, I have heard it sounds drone-like at highway speeds with a header. I think Chris had that setup and he tried a couple different resonators

Thank for the congrats on our son and for the exhaust input. Ya things are a bit crazy but settling down pretty well.
I really don't want any drone especially between 3000 and 3500 rpm (highway speeds). This is primarily my car and will be used mostly for family trips, vacations, and spirited driving for me when I go somewhere on my own. I would still like to see/hear the vid.

NP and enjoy these days....I'm sure you have heard it before but they grow up so fast!!!! It feels like yesterday that I was rocking my daughter to sleep before bed, now she comes home from high school talking about how cute this boy is etc.... And take lots of pics!!!

As for exhaust I felt the tone was nice at 3000 while cruising at speed. I'll try to look through my account tonight for it.

Larry, with your comments regarding drivabilty, you should consider that when it comes suspension. When I got the Protege, I had bought Eibach Sportlines, Laurie hated, stiffer than the Prokit. Me, loved the set up and the 1.8 drop all around. As far as the shift knob, you may see some come up for sale on the forum. I still get a discount with TWM

I have the pro kit and really like them, I know where you can get a new unused pro-kit for the p5 (thanks to using protege garage as a cross reference)...I don't want you to feel like I'm pushing all my random parts on you.

I remember your connection with TWM, I didn't know it was an on-going thing. My concern is they are 3 figures on Ebay, just a bit steep. It is a back burner thing right now anyway.

I don't mind at all. I am all about helping my friends get rid of un-needed parts. If they are still around when Uncle Sam sends us our tax refund maybe we can talk.

I'll still have them I'm sure, everytime I put them in a fs thread I get such low ball offers it's not even worth responding to them.

I'm no expert on build threads since I'm too lazy to make my own, but this one seems to be missing something.......

pics of your new to you p5!

Alright, alright! I will put some pics up in the next day or so. Geez-o-pete!

Hey Larry, where are the pics of your P5?(lol2)

As far as the short shifter, if you want to hold off a bit I might be buying a different lever since I have a Probe GT shift linkage now. I need to do some more research but I can sell you the shifter for $50. I bought it for $100. But no pressure, mate!
