What have you done to your Miata today?

Yep yep.

Damn son. I want to meet you, and go out to an event you're at, but frankly, until I'm slammed and have x9's I'm embarrassed to lol

Itching for a man date huh? (no homo)

I really don't venture up to MD meets too often. Roads up there suck ass. I will however be @ h20 this year. Not looking forward to the drive there, but I am looking forward to the epicness that will surely ensue.

I've been trying to hit some VA meets, and I guess we passed at Hyperfest but I didn't see your car. It'll happen one day ;). (I'm innocent_blue on CR.net)

Installed a front strut brace, definitely helps the front end feel more solid.

Got an alignment, apparently the previous owner had a crack monkey do the alignment last time, nothing was good. Now it is and the car responds a lot better. Thanks to aMaff for help with alignment specs!

Installed 15x7 C1Ms with 225/45-15 Hankook Ventus RS3s. SO MUCH GRIP, even as they break in. I love them.

Thrashed on my new RS3s at an auto-x school in 80-90deg weather. They can REALLY tolerate heat and take abuse without getting slippery, highly recommended! Miata-driving instructors were impressed with the grip.

Also got an alignment that I like a lot, but needs a touch more caster and/or front camber. Currently limited by bad suspension bushings that will be replaced this winter. Several instructors really liked the setup, for what it's worth.

Front:
-2.5 camber
4.1 caster (I wanted 5, that's I got)
1/16th toe out each side

Rear:
-1.5 camber (not quite what I spec'd, but the best I got, turned out pretty well I think)
1/16th toe in each side

Thanks to aMaff for advice on suspension settings.

Swapped a couple parts out to try to diagnose issues on the MSM yesterday. Still no luck. I swapped out the coils and wires, tried a different tune (again), found that my rubber intake tube going to the throttlebody neck was rubbing on the frame for the fan and wore a thin spot in it. Patched it up as best as I could, and put it back in. Same issue. I changed MBC's just for S&G's. I can now build 10 psi before it starts sputtering, but it builds it so fast that I'm not sure what's going on. The controller doesn't seem to be controlling s***.

Question, how would I know when the wastegate actuator is shot?

Question, how would I know when the wastegate actuator is shot?

find a source of pressure you can control, apply and see if it moves... easier than replacing it. if it's building boost too fast then it might be shot, this might be easier then putting it back to stock

now that I can post here: I cleaned my air filter, installed my TWM shift knob and cleaned up a few things

Yeah, we didn't get a chance to take it for a ride after we got the tube hooked up. One reason why it's sometimes difficult to work on my own stuff at the house on a weekend because everyone else is doing it too. Anyway, I drove it over to my buddy Dan's house later in the evening, and to work this morning. At about 3500 rpm, it goes from 0-1 psi and flies up to 10-12 ish, and tries to build more. Why a different boost controller would make it do this is beyond me. My next thought is to run no boost controller and direct to the wastegate. IIRC, it's a 7psi wastegate. I could be wrong tho. That happens more often than not lately.

eesh. I'm not a fan in general of MBCs, but definitely test out the WG actuator on a compressor (not hard to do, just regulate the line pressure you're putting out) and see if it moves as expected. It may have a leaky diaphragm.

well next week I will be picking up my first miata. Its a black 95 thats in decent condition 138k on the clock and I'm getting it for 1500 from a friend of mine. I ordered my first part for it last night which was a original nardi wood grain wheel with black spokes & it comes with the hub adapter. Hopefully when my friend gets back in town next week and I pick the car up the wheel should be here. I'm super excited about the miata I haven't been this excited since i first got the msp.

Yea man I've driven a miata a few times but that was a 1.6l car. The 1.8l is alot of fun too when i drove the car that I'm going to buy i was like omg i can stomp it and not worry about rod explosion like i do every time i get on my protege with the gt28rs.

You will love!!

Now LET's SEE SOME PICS!! (When you get it)

I am worried when i stomp on mine though

will do only thing i really have to change on it is the headlights. they are god awful. hes got some stock ones that just have to be resprayed so i will probably have that done an then take pictures.

no clear plastic covering or no covering at all?

I had those yes, but i had the fiberglass cover that hid the mounting brackets, but no clear lexan cover over that

I just might be interested in picking them up either way from you. . . . .
