Let's see some Mazda3 5-doors

Im really close to downgrading to a new mazda 2, basically would trade in my 50k mile 3 touring hatch for a new 2011 touring 2, id lose leather\6cd\moonroof and gain bluetooth and extra mileage. Payment goes down 5 bucks, insurance goes down 5 bucks...wuddya think?

And power goes down by what? 156 -100 = -56. Torque: 150 -96= -54!!
I don't think you'd like the change. I know I wouldn't. For a $5 x 2 difference and slightly worse mileage, I'd keep the 3.

you're forgetting that you are also getting a car that weighs in around 2300lbs a good 600-700lbs lighter than a 3... i also know someone with a 2 and shes pulling 40mpgs driving back roads, so thats a legit upgrade over the 3 mileage wise

fam, id say test drive one and see if its something youd like, if so id say go for it!

I agree w/the suggestion to take a 2 on a good, long test-drive first before making the decision.

But my 3 (5-sp) only weighs 2850 lbs. I don't think that makes up for the difference in *edit* space or power... especially if you have passengers.

Plus you're getting that new warranty.

Sorry for temporary thread hijack...

but current 3 is an autostick which I autocross and I dont trust the transmission for longevity on the way it shifts sometimes, warranty ends in 10k miles.

Had 3 in this morning for the power steering recall as my power steering finally went out for a few minutes so had to take it in so I test drove the 2...I put 18k of hwy miles on a year, seemed really quiet ride, engine sounds during revving but its not a bad sound...interior room seems about the same, trunk is def smaller...

fun fact, you have to order an arm rest as it doesnt come with one lol...ill make them throw it in when I buy it.

Wife likes my 3 as it has a sunroof...ill miss that the most honestly but I live in Ohio...so its not like I get more than 2 months of a good summer anyway.

Seems solid but interior is not as nice as the 3...thing is ive owned 3 3's and 3 5's since 2004, need a scenery change.

WOW!! You change cars like I change my ... no, less often than that, but a lot!! I'm still driving the '04 I bought in...*GASP* '04!! :D
I wanted a roof so badly when I bought mine too, but it didn't happen.
I grew up and lived in eastern Pa and owned a VW Golf for a while w/a roof. Of course it was metal, not glass, but I still had it open even in the middle of winter, as long as the weather wasn't too bad i.e. snowing. I get cold easily too, but I didn't care. I wore a hat and gloves and was good to go. 'Loved the roof and I miss having one.

Well my white 04 hatch I bought had the moonroof\6cd\auto, loved it, roof is so nice just for sun...highly recommend it in keeping sanity.

BUt im not a car changing addict, just weird circumstances.... wife leased a 3i sedan while prego in late 04 after I bought the 04 hatch, come baby time, 3i sedan wasnt big enough with baby in middle (1st kid at the time so middle was safer to us)...so...since she was stuck in a lease...I took a butt raping to trade in 3 and buy the 1st mazda5 in ohio (drove to michigan the day it came off the train), Lease was about up, I was over in miles, got another 5 for me...found a new 5 for her for same payment, couple years later I was sick of driving a van as I was old enough to realize kids will survive in a 3.....and that takes me to today.

Another note...took a 2k negative equity on this 3, and yet, a year later, it will TRADE IN even with what I owe!...car was also in an accident a day after I got it and their insurance paid me 1500 diminished value on top of med bills\pain suffering\repair...so this 3 will have earned me 3k in value over 1 year....and I dont think the used car values are going to stay this high forever (japan has a lot to do with it)...so I think I may bite.

id say go for it man... i like the 2 and they do perform better than the numbers "show"

Think I will...they have a new white stick, and 2 used, one with 7k in green, and a red one with 14k. Im favoring the new one but the green is growing on me like fungus on the rotting corpse in my basement.

xmazdax i like those shot setups a LOT but 1st shot looks like its the road and dirt is a little more in focus than the cars. In lower light shots sometimes you may want to manual focus, but still I think these are your coolest shots so far.

I know! I used manual and manual focus. I have a 50mm 1/8 and it has autofocus but it doesn't work on D60's. But that first pic came out kinda shity. The second i love.

I bought that same lens and sent it back to amazon for my wifes d3000 because she was too yuppy for manual focus so got her the autofocus version of the 1.8 lens..dont remember if it was the 35mm or 50mm...35 I think...was $100 more ;P

hey xmazdax im selling my 3 for a 2 when I get back from disney in about 10 days, so if you need HIDs (lows and fogs + an exrtra set of bulbs) and a cargo plastic liner let me know..will sell cheap.
