HKPRO5's Supercharger Build Thread

Thanks!

The switches are only there because it's a convenient place for them. I had then to the left next to the fog switch but my leg would bump into it when I got out of the car. Which engages the clutch on the SC, killing my battery. Lol

Just an idea, you can use mid 90 BMW panel switch surrounds in your slots over there which will recess into the space about half an inch...would clean it up some...I can get you some pics of what I am talking about if you want...

Small update. My stock oil pressure sender is leaking....

When I go back to single bov. I gotta find out where the hell the rest of the boost is going. I should be in the 8-9 range. I'm only at 5-6. Also running lean at wot. So I'll keep the SC off until I fix that stuff.

dam dude, ghetto radiator hose lol

everythings lookin good so far though, sucks bout the HKS...i always liked mine until i got a greddy.

Yea the rad hose is temporary lol. I have a SpeedCircuit straight water neck kit in the back seat waiting for install. lol Same with my beat up air filter

Soooooooooooooooo

I took the HKS off, got the new flange mounted up for the Greddy in the same spot as the HKS (near the blower) I sealed all the couplers with hair spray. Started the car. Then got the propane out and did a vac leak test. Went out for a test drive.

When I go into boost it hesitates then when i let go of the gas the RPMs drop out and almost stall the car. To the point where the battery warning light and all that come on. Then the rpms would go back to normal....

The car runs great in N/A form. but when I go into boost this happens.... bad deals. All the threads that Ive looked at really havent helped. That was for people not running recirc setups with the maf in the stock location. Keep in mind that I run a blow through setup. So I dont think its the BOV. It worked fine yesterday.....

sounds like there's extra tension on the alternator causing it to over/under power. I'd consider an upgraded alt

Have you tried adjusting the SSQV valve for the new sans HKS operation? It might be holding boost when it shouldn't, and the blow back off the throttle plate might be throwing the MAF off.

Nice! Send me the total and I'll paypal you!

Thanks!!

I have the Greddy installed. I dont plan on using the HKS anymore....

I hooked up the boost leak tester and turned up the pressure to 10psi....

Leaking at the injector seals 3 & 4.- Easy fix because I had a new set of seals in the tool box

and what I believe was the Throttle position sensor..... I tried tightening the bolts with no dice. Does the TPS have a gasket?

So i went out today, adjusted the BOV. I can finally see boost. BUT I still stall out after boost.

Any ideas?

i think there is a gasket yeah.

HKPRO5,
Are you recirculating the BOV and where are you recirculating too? I believe it should be recirculating to the supercharger intake (near the air filter).

A little article I found:
The Bypass Valve
Compressor surge is a problem that affects most superchargers and develops when the supercharger is creating boost, but the throttle shaft is closed. Although not a problem on some low-boost (5psi or less) applications This condition can occur under deceleration or while shifting between gears, and can cause the car to sputter and chirp. Under surge, the compressor forces air into the closed throttle body until the pressure inside the throttle body is higher than the amount of pressure being created by the supercharger, and the air tries to pop backward through the supercharger. At that point, pressure is released inside the throttle body and the compressor forces air back through the supercharger and into the throttle body, which again has nowhere to go, and the process repeats. While surge normally is not highly damaging to the engine it is certainly annoying and can cause damage with time. To eliminate these problems under surge conditions, a bypass valve (sometimes called an anti-surge valve) is used to release the excess pressure. The bypass valve is actuated using intake manifold vacuum, which opens the vent valve and releases pressure in the air-intake. Air is either released into the atmosphere (blowoff valve) or recirculated back through the supercharger compressor (bypass valve).
