What have you done to your Miata today?

All 4 shocks & springs are, once again, off the car. Got different rear shocks coming, along with different rear top hats to accompany them. The fronts are re-assembled, next we'll work on getting the spring perch heights eyeballed in, corner balancing it at the new ride height (higher), and re-doing the alignment. Again. And it all needs to be done after-hours and before Friday. Buuuuuuuuh....

I have a problem of ride-height, or lack thereof. With the 23" OD 15" tires I was running in STS, it wasn't a problem, but with the 20" (19.9" actually) Goodyear bias-plys, the car is just too low. I literally lose 1.5" of ride height just by changing tires. We're occasionally bottoming on big bumps on course, and I'm really starting to worry about damaging the tub, is it's not designed to take that sort of shock load. There's a lot of things that I can fix if they break. The tub? Not on that list. So, I'm going with shocks with a longer stroke than the shortened Koni RACE shocks, and some extended top-hats. That will let us get the car as high as we'd ever want (and then some), without hurting handling. I'd like to get it 3/4" higher at the shocks. That combined with the stiffer springs that are going on will hopefully keep us where we need to be. If we find we need to go higher, we'll be able to, but I'm pretty sure we'll be ok with these changes.

I'm sorry man, but we're going to have to revoke your slammed number. LOL.

Did a ton of stuff over the past 2 1/2 days. Changed oil/coupler in the 'charger, replaced the exhaust mani with one from an '05, MS competition engine and diff mounts, new fuel filter, new lower radiator and heater hoses, TDR header blanket. Picked up the hardtop from the paint shop on Wednesday before I got started, it looks wonderful now.

You of all people should know better!

I'll see what I can do when the rain stops, I get her cleaned and she is presentable. Just for you. Because I love you man.

Adjusted the bump settings on the rear coilovers. Factory setting was a little stiff, backed it off a little. The ride over rough payment is much better.

Got pulled over last night. Got a warning for speed. Tho, I don't think it was me that he radar'd. There was a car much faster than me going by at the same time. Warning for 45 in a 40.

Ohio cops are bad, 5 over is ridiculous without it being end of the month. At least he didn't write you up.

There's a lot of miles, a big yellow Lab and three vicious Chihuahuas between us, so I feel safe.

This week, it got new rear shocks, new springs all around, the ride height was raised a bit, and it was corner weighted and aligned. And this evening she's packed up on the trailer and ready for our 0-dark-30 start tomorrow morning towards Atlanta Motor Speedway. Can haz gofast? :D

Cleaned her up...2x checked all fluids...may be going to a new owner tomorrow if all goes well.
I iz sad.

I apologize for the utterly crappy cell phone picture, but here's my engine bay as of yesterday. You can see:

-new turbo
-new radiator
-new radiator hoses
-new jaz coolant bottle
-new oil breather bottle

Autocrossed it. Even after pretty wholesale setup changes, all apparently for the better, the car was fast a hell. Man I love driving this thing :D
