import a right hand drive one though from UK! original and the first one in US or whatever

The Fiesta is not the same car as the Mazda2. They're very similar, and share similar underpinnings, but there's a big difference in the execution.

The Fiesta, for one, is much heavier. This has an impact on the way the car drives, the way it takes a set. The Mazda2 feels much friskier.

The Fiesta's steering has a bit more feel in hard cornering, but it's more dead around the straight-ahead.

The Mazda2's light weight and suspension set give it more immediacy than the Fiesta. While the Fiesta has a steadier suspension (euro-tuning, focuses mostly on shock valving), the Mazda2 literally dances over the road. Even with a bigger engine and a more sophisticated transmission, the Fiesta just can't evoke the joy of driving the Mazda2 can.

A Mazda2 1.5 with light boost... perhaps making just 150 hp, would be infinitely more fun to drive than many cars making 300. As it is... it's already more fun to drive than many making over 200. ;)

well there is no doubt that MS2 would be one of the greats, but i'd love to test out the hot Fiesta and the hot 2 side by side. its like a rivalry within the family

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine is hoping for a MS2 as well! (2thumbs)

i would buy a Mazdaspeed 2 in a heartbeat.

should be an easy thing to do...drop in whatever engine is used in the Miata (a 6-speed would be nice, too), tighten up the suspension, and (most importantly) keep the weight gain to a minimum. an MS2 doesn't need to be some crazy-horsepower, over the top exercise. keep it light, keep it simple.

AWD doesn't make any sense for the 2...It would add too much weight and cost not to mention that it's simply not what the 2 is about (fun, light, affordable etc)...As for VW's R32 (which is an overpriced hog in my opinion)...The Golf / R32 is in the same class as the Mazda3 / MS3 not the 2, so why mention it?

In anycase, I'm happy to see the majority of Members would love to buy a MAZDASPEED2...Keep the VOTES coming, thanks! :D

I've been reading all the articles and reviews in car mags about the 2. And they all praise the car. Saying its priced right and fun to drive. In manual guise of course. More than one publication even called the handling "miata like" or "miata like athleticism". Coming from a guy who drives and tracks a miata, thats saying quite a lot. The miata is very neutral and sharp. For a FF to have those driving dynamics is very appealing. Whether its fast or not. The miata is not fast at all, but its always a hoot to drive. Especially in the snow on snow tires. Yes, i drive it in the winter.

I wonder if the 2.0 MZR from the 3rd gen miata would fit. That would be good for at least a 60hp bump.

>Subiekiller3 To say the 2 looks exactly like the Honda Fit, just shows how much one does'nt actually look or pay attention. The only thing similar is their both hatchbacks. Thats about it.
I cannot see any similarities beside that. Please feel free to point out how they are "exactly" alike. Post a pic of each side by side so we can all see what the hell your talking about.

The fit is and excellent seller. And continues to win comparisons.

The mazda 2 however, is the drivers car. In the world of subcompacts at least.

ROFLROFLRFLROFLROFL Somebody needs to get their eyes checked.
2 VERY different cars with the only similarities being that they're both hot hatches.

No disrespect, but they aren't "hot hatches." I absolutely love my Mazda 2, but I'm coming from a 2006 VW GTI (and I've driven 2 different MS3s) and you really don't get into the "hot hatch" range sub 150hp. Don't misquote me on this because I'm NOT saying that the 2 CAN'T be made into a hot hatch. Make it breath a little better, some software, suspension upgrades and a short shift kit... total hot hatch.

Also if we ever get a MS2... well let's just say I'll be waiting patiently at the dealership the day they are supposed to arrive, title in hand.

Though IMHO...it is not so much raw hp that is the critical factor.....it is the hp to weight ratio...and the Mazda 2...as currently delivered...stacks up pretty favorably in this regard from what I have read and experienced.
