I have a FMIC and never see high engine temps unless sitting in traffic. But thats only because Mazda has the ecu set to kick the fan on at 215 degrees. With the new version of ATR you can set it to come on when you want, I changed it down to 190. As for lag, you won't notice it, the small turbo spools up so quickly anyways. My intercooler is even bigger then the cxracing one as it sits behind the crash bar.
this isn't my car, but i have the corksport fmic and this is how it sits, yeah people say well how can it be efficient behind the crash bar like that, well i've never had a problem with it at all and boost temps always drop fast.
