What have you done to your MSP today?

jacked up the car today, sprayed my front sway bar bushings. went for a test drive and they're quiet :D i shoulda done this 20k miles ago lol. now i wonder how long it lasts

Works a lot better if you use real white lithium grease...

So, here is an update on my car issues...
I was driving my car and came home, lifted the hood and saw smoke. So my fiance pulled the hot plate cover off and low and behold my stock manifold is cracked, 3 cracks actually. I do not know if this will cause the car to act like it has been. I have been told by Mazda that that won't happen. Other mechanics have told me it would because there is an exhaust leak. So I am going to get the steedspeed one when I get my tax $ and hopefully that will fix the codes too. If not, then I guess I will pay $100 diagnostic fee to get it looked at. What other items should I purchase when I get the steedspeed manifold?

For now, I am stuck driving a 5.0 Mustang. I miss my car, my stereo system, and its easy handling, but the Mustang SURE is FAST!! LOL
Thanks in advance for your help! :)

I would drive a 5.0 Mustang over this car in a heartbeat, I miss my Rio Red 94 Cobra every day. Stock exhaust manifolds crack all the time, a steedspeed is a great investment. You will need new Exhaust mani gaskets, both the head-manifold gasket and the mani-turbo gasket, (I chose and recommend Fel-Pro) and new exhaust manifold hardware, I bought a set of ARP studs and i also highly recommend them.

Um never. I've liked mustangs for wayy longer than proteges even existed.

And, to stay on topic what did you do to your MSP today?

I took mine in for an estimate to fix where it was keyed, $1300.

First off, how does that make you not a fanboi? If anything it reinforces the fact.

Besides, I call bulls***, since Protege's are older than you are... Pretty sure you were born after 1989. lol (hand)

I said never as in i'm not going to stop liking my favorite car because of some punk on the internet. I'm not denying that I like a car that outperforms my daily driver in every way more than my daily driver. Compare the Mustang to the f*cking Protege, lololol.
And you never answered, why are you trolling this thread?

haha, take the internet a little more seriously. It was just a joke, no need to get your panties in a bunch little manly man. And your mustang only out-performs in a straight line. Congrats.

Oh & sorry for "trolling," and answering people's questions when they have issues with their "f*cking proteges" as you call them... I guess I'll try not to help out fellow protege owners when they ask for help in here, from now on. Since MSPs are soooo different than other proteges. (jerkit)

received my Forge BPV in the mail, and picked up another pack of t-bolt clamps. Also got some new shoes... Hankook winter I pikes. They are ****** meaty!

now if I could only get the car running...

Yea I read about the fact that msp manis crack when i googled "2003 mazdaspeed protege". LOL
I also saw something about a heat blanket to keep down the heat under the hood, cause I think you can't put the stock heat shield back on. but I love my MSP. My mom, dad, and sis keep tryin to get me to sell it, but I haven't had to do a whole lot to it as far as break downs go....just paid $450 for the damn intercooler pipe, which didn't fix the hesitation problems AT ALL!!!!. It has 60K miles on it and the worst things I have read about it are the issues I am having now. So HURRY UP tax time. lol Thanks for the help Hornsfan :)

The 5.0,Its an 89 Mustang that he bought for $750!!!!! Pretty good buy.

Where'd you pick up the hankooks from? Next paycheck = winter tires for me. Been trying to get lucky w/ craigslist, to no avail... My summers are not cutting it anymore, lol.

So HURRY UP tax time. lol

Amen.

Matt,
I didn't see a large amount of smoke and the cracks are like 3 in long. I will probably replace all of that when I get my taxes. Not driving it in the meantime. Sitting under my carport collecting dirt :( Thanks for the info Matt. :)
Unless they are LARGE cracks, you shouldn't be seeing a noticeable amount of smoke. Make sure all of your gaskets, seals, and lines are in good shape. Also climb under the car and look at the bottom of the turbo and let us know if there is any oil on the bottom. Good luck :)

Keep an eye on the f/s threads here. Good deals on stock manifolds are to be had. Wouldn't be surprised if at least one was f/s on here.

I thought that all the stock manifolds were bad?? Is it not true that they are prone to crack and steedpeeds are guaranteed not to crack? Just what I read on the internet, but I also read that you could use JB weld on it....BULL$H!T...lmao...that was the worse SMELL EVER!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!

Wagonerbacker,
What is an infraction? And was that directed at me???

It would be what happens when you have senseless arguments having nothing to do with the topic, and no, not directed toward you in any way.

I've got 105K on my car, and other than a couple superficial cracks, my mani is fine, no function problems with it. But yes, other than a couple leaky welds the steedspeeds have no reported problems at all to my knowledge. if you're holding onto the car for a while, they're a must-have.
