I want to upgrade to FMIC, from stock. I'd like some advice/input

indeed you shall. the fact is, a vac block and everything connected is just too much for a teeny little line to manage. you would be better off with a bunch of tee's on various vac lines throughout your bay, though it would look like garbage.
 
thanks for the advice iv modded cars for like 3 years but this is my first turbo car so im still learning and from what iv found alot of u have ur n/a rules and then ur turbo rules its like the laws of physics change haha im getting there
 
I got a lean code yesterday anybody ever get one after a fmic and maf relocate?

be careful with runnin lean, do you have wideband? if not i suggest you invest in one, great for peace of mind to make sure your not boosting too lean or even out of boosting normally.
 
i dont have a wideband yet i hope to do one over the christmass break and all i have done is a fmic and a maf relocate would that make me run lean on a car that runs super rich?
 
without a wideband you're taking a stab in the dark, but as I mentioned my car had a very lean idle when i relocated. Obviously something was wrong since plenty of others have done it without any issues, but I would put it back on the intake to be safe until you hook up a wideband.
 
yeah im gonna move it back untill i can get a wideband and be sure. The code hasnt come back but I havnt been boosting alot I know the computer has to go threw a learning curve so I was wondering if anybody had this problem and gave it enough time for the computerto work its self out?
 
i got a lean code i think once or twice, and it was because the car idled really lean on a warm start-up, not because the car was driving lean
so once you get a wideband, just keep an eye on it, you should be fine....im not sure what causes it, but most turbo proteges around here have a hard time with warm starts,
the idle always gets wacky for the first min or so
 
Iv boosted a good number of times since then and i havnt got a code i did have to re clamp a loose vac hose tho
 
i have come to the conclusion that i will be takeing my big fmic off and going with my smic less turbo lag more stealth looking and I will hook meth inj. and it will be better then any fmic could ever be
 
its all in what you want the car to be. remember, the turbo spools so early on these cars that people say its the cause of wrecked tranny's. and youre far from the first person to chemically intercool these cars... its not that popular because if your meth pump fails, youre ******* smoked. its happened to at least 2 people on here.
 
companys like aem and some other ones use fail safe systems if the pump fails or if u run out of fluid some turn a light on or aem has a vac switch that will open ur wastegate all the way killing ur boost so no problem now i havnt hurd any on the tranny problems can you shed some light on that?
