well guys i went to get an inspection today and i cant pass, i got 2 codes;

P1569 Manufacture control vehicle speed idle speed control auxillary
P0600 Intake timing circuit open bank 1

does anyone know what may be causing this/ what needs replacing

thanks in advance

I'm not sure what P0600 is supposed to mean, as its not listed int he shop manual.

Here is P1569 according to the shop manual...

DTC P1569 [FS]
A3U010201083W11
Diagnostic procedure
DTC P1569 Variable tamble control system (VTCS) solenoid valve circuit low input

DETECTION CONDITION

PCM monitors input voltages from VTCS solenoid valve. If voltage at PCM terminal 73 is low when VTCS solenoid valve OFF, PCM determines that VTCS solenoid valve has malfunction.

Diagnostic support note

This is a continuous monitor (CCM).

MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles.

PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.

FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.

DTC is stored in PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Poor connection of connectors at PCM and/or VTCS solenoid valve

Short to ground in wiring between VTCS solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 73

Open circuit in wiring between main relay terminal D and VTCS solenoid valve terminal A

Open circuit in wiring between VTCS solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 73

VTCS solenoid valve malfunction

PCM malfunction

Nah - disconnect the battery and press the brakes a few times. Reconnect and drive over 100 (?) miles and then get it re-inspected if no CEL in that time. ;)

Those e-check systems can tell if you haven't driven a full cycle to allow the ECU to reset. They will tell you to come back in xx miles. I've seen them do it to numerous ppl around here. ;)

And if you run a full reset cycle, then those codes will probly come back. But it's worth a try to see if they don't come back immediately.

The Mazda specific OBD-II codes don't include P0600 but for generic, I found that it means "Serial Communication Link Malfunction".

well guys i appreciate the help, but now my new problem is as soon as the car gets hot (normal operating temp) the cel and battery light flicker once and the car shuts off and wont turn back on until its cooled off.... any suggestions cause this car is starting to piss me off

Something electrical is getting hot & shorting out. It could be a multitude of things, but I think that p0600 code is saying there's an issue with your ecu sending signal, so I would check that out...

Crap.......ive been doing some searching online and people with the same problem (different cars) have been talking about replacing the ect (the one that sends the signal to the ecu) i was wondering does anyone think this could be a problem and where would this sensor be located.

well guys i think ive narrowed down the problem. ive included a few pics(engine bay) of how i got the car, but what i would like ya to focus on is the last to pics, which is the wire that goes to the crankshaft as soon as the car got hot it shut off but this time i start looking around making sure things are connected properly and sure enough as soon as i touch that wire the engine bay makes a noise, so i go and start the car and bam it starts right up, i touch the wire and it shuts off....so does anyone else think this wire is the suspect?

ps the p0600 code went away only 1 code stays on and its the P1569 im wondering could the crankshaft wire be the one causing this problem......thoughts would be appreciated

Sounds like an electrical problem. Perhaps theres a short in the wires rite at the plug. Same thing happened to me but with the IAC. If I touched the wires the car would die. I replaced some of the wiring and the plug and all is good now

those wires look like they're toasted...if co cut them out and splice in some new wires.

bazooka if it were only that simply, i followed the wire all the way to the crankshaft sensor and it seems someone left it loose or didnt put it back properly and the lower part of the wire has a rub mark where the pulley has been eating the wire smfh

I believe that cable is part of the crankshaft position sensor based on looking at my car. It's supposed to be a shielded cable so it would probably not be possible to properly repair it.

I don't think it's causing your VTCS P1569 code. You need to run a diagnostic on the VTCS to locate the reason for the code.

by any chance would you (anyone) know where the VTCS is located

Here are photos of the VTCS actuator and solenoid. They are attached to the intake manifold near the oil dipstick. The plates and operating shaft are located inside the intake manifold.
