Rear Motor Mount for MS6

Well, I had the opportunity to drive Tunersteve's MS6 yesterday, and let me say, it is one sweet ride. His car has a 88 Duro AWR Rear Motor Mount, and although I love the performance, it may have too much vibration for me since I am expecting a baby soon. With that said, I would like to know if those running the 70 Duro AWR rear motor mount are happy with the performance. Also, please comment on the vibration it produces. I realize it is a give and take relationship between performance and vibration, I am just looking for the best performance I can get with minimum increased vibration over the stock motor mount. Feel free to also provide your recommendation for a motor mount that meets my criteria. Thanks!

I have the SU rear motor mount, vibes were minimal and only noticed at idle.
Either I got used to The vibration or it has become even less as the mount has gotten "broken in".

SU is short for a vendor that for some dramatic reason that I never really looked into nor do I really care is blocked out on this forum.

S stands for street
U stands for unit
you can put them together.
I never had any issues with them nor am I a spokesperson for them, just throwing out another option for OP

I heard the SU motor mount wasn't that much improvement over stock. I think it is only 62 Duro.

I'd say that's what I'm gonna go with once i figure out what tires i'm going with lol, from what I'm told the vibration ain't that noticeable

i had the 88 duro and the vibes were insane. at idle and at 800-1400 rpm, the entire car shook. i bought it used on the forum so i dont kno if somehow i got a faulty mount, but it only stayed on my car for a week.
i will be picking up a new one soon and am looking at the su or cpe mount. its a lower duro but a stiffer material from what ive read.

I have two things to add to this thread:

1) SU management had some business ethics problems when it came to doing business on this forum and the site management told them to piss off. That was several years ago, but there is still distrust. In my opinion they have good products and great customer service. ...Just thought I'd enlighten you.

2) The fact that any aftermarket mount is full instead of webbed (you'll see when you pull the stock one off) is an improvement, even at 62 duros. You really can't go wrong replacing that hunk of crap Mazda put on this car.

I have the SU rmm and im very happy with it. Vibs lasted about a month and then they went away. Only rarely do I get some hardly noticable vibrations when im stopped on an upward incline.

ive had both the trans mount and engine mount.. trans mount is the money mount.. cant run em together though.. theyd have to be a pretty low durometer..

I did some looking and here's what I found:

AWR has a 70, 88, and 95 duro RMM
CP-e doesn't say what theirs is
SU's mount is 62 duro

Pricewise, the SU and CP-e are $140, the AWR is $70.

While I can't comment on the 70 duro, like Chris said, replacing the stock mount with anything solid is an improvement. Unlike what was said at our meet by another member, the 70 duro is the way to go IMO. You're not going to shear the mount by hard shifting.

With my 88 duro mount, the only time I feel vibes is at a stop with the A/C or defrost on. While moving, it's not noticeable at all. You feel the vibes through the steering wheel, shifter (slightly) and pedals, but it cycles with the A/C.

I thougth SU did a recall on their first revision of the mounts to remedy this. Am I remembering correctly?

I don't know. When I talked with Nick the other day I recommend the AWR 70 for him, I haven't heard of any issues with those failing due to repetitive hard shifting.

steve su's mounts are priced at $119...the other mount priced at $140 is the same mount but includes there solid shifter spacers ..and also want to add that su's mounts have 4 different Urethane Bushings to choose from ranging from "soft", "street" which is the 62a durometers , aggressive, and last is ones called race...i once talked to mark at su about aggressive and race and he said something about aggressive is somewhere in the 90's and race was something like 110...dont quote me on that but it was a drastic difference. hope that clears things up with them.
