I originally wanted to go with tenzo cuzco 18x8 black red lip wrapped in kuhmo MX....but i was just gonna ask you guys if you know anything cheeper?...or anything off tirerack( since i can get a discount)...im not good picking out rims but i deff want something with alot of spokes.

any other suggestions about tires...i herd the mx and the kbw2s are good...im lookin for the best summer tire i can get...that can heat up on the track but drive on the street as well ( i have winter tires so)

Rims are far too subjective for me to go making suggestions, but if you want a good sticky street tire that won't disappoint for casual track use & doesn't break the bank, consider the Yokohama S-Drive or the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 (Damn, that's a long name for a frickin' tire). If you're looking for a tire for dedicated or frequent track use, well, you've already gotten that suggestion.

well yes i was looking into the dunlop one already.....ummm im really trying to go with a 18x8.5 on ms3 i herd with the 8.5 it will be less wheel hop......i was looking into the rota svn

<a href="http://www.wheeldude.com/wdg/_detail.php?pic=4633" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.wheeldude.com/wdg/ul/index.php/200/200/gallery/4633_1.jpg" alt="wheeldude.com Gallery" title="wheeldude.com Gallery" border="0" /></a>

because it is 8.5 and has a red strip but im not sure...i need to keep the price really under 1400..... and im really lookin for a black with red stripe

my originall plan was to go with tenzo cuzco but there only 18x8 so im not 100% sure

any opinions on 8 or 8.5 im trying to eliminate wheel hop im full stage 2..and i go to track alot (this is like a project car for me) im going big turbo soon so i need the traction do you think 18x8 will be fine because if i dun need that extra .5 i have alot more options

wha.. really? Yoko s-drives? and K110's? Sumitomos HTRZ III's would prolly do better than those which are about the same level of cornering grip as the stock B-stones.

Ok..here's some really good street/track tires. Street tires classifies a treadwear rating of 140 UTGQ or higher. Here are some.

Kumho XS......(have high level of grip, not forgiving past limit tho)
Star Specs.....(really grippy, not too bad on the wallet.)
RE-11's..........(most grip out of any street tire. really pricey)
Toyo R1R's......(Right there with the Re-11's, not as bad price)
Nitto NT-05.....(Pretty good. I have yet to test these out tho.)
Falken Azenis...(Old, faithful grip, overheats on larger tracks, good grip and very forgiving)
Neova AD08.....(will break the bank, might as well get some DOT r-comps)

Make Sure on a 8'' wide wheel, you go 225' or bigger or you will run the risk of running on the sidewall from over cornering. Also, tires are a huge roll for grip, but make sure your alignment is up to snuff.

hope some of this helps ya.

Edit:
Oh dang..your talking about drag racing. Erm.

Just get yourself some 16'' FD wheels with some fat tires. I dont see how a 8.5'' wheels will eliminate wheelhop. just get all the motor mounts and the traction bars.

i thought that you were selling your car?

anyways, i would recommend you to buy forged wheels they r more expensive but they r better quality
check out gram lights 57 maximum and advan rz those r two of my favorite

There is no reason to go wider than an 8" rim unless it's purely for aesthetics. You'll be adding unnecessary rotational mass which is not that great for the track.

And I'd like to know as well; why are you posting this when you have a FS post?

deleting the FS post...i no im gonna get hate i thought i had a good deal on a mustang ( wanted a mustang since i was 12) didnt work out...now i like my ms3 even more...and the price i pay for it hahah

yea honestly i dont know ANYTHING about wheel specs/tires sizes anything thats why im asking...but i hit up **********...they said going with 18x8.5 would help me on the track...because believe me if not id go with tenzo cuzco 18x8 because thos are my favorite wheel. Im not really concerned about the look rite now...i just need new tires REALLY bad and i figured id do rims/tires since i have the $$$....alot of people at the track around me run kdw2s they said they heat up really nice...and i can get a good deal on them...any thoughts????? if not im gonna go with the dunlops star spec because the reviews on them are great...

so what you guys think...im usualy not one to take advice but i really KNOW NOTHING about this wheel stuff.....this summer im gonna go to the track alot im looking for stricktly summer tires...when winter comes im gonna get a set of winter wheels so...thanks guys....after il also keep you posted on how it came out

Forgot to comment - Advan RZ's are cast not forged. Forged is not necessary unless the car is on the track all the time. Cast spun wheels like the RZ and RPF1 would be a good middle ground. JMHO. :)

I don't want to undermine SU, but I'd be interested to know why they're suggesting 18x8.5? Is it because of the extra .2" section width it would imply? It's going to cost you some weight, though Tenzo Cuzco's are already heavier @ 22.4 lbs.

I thounght that they were forged (shrug), oh well
but they r still one of my favorite wheel (rockon)

If you go to the track a LOT, are you looking at a set of dedicated track wheels with track tires, separate from your street setup? I damned sure would.

Yeah, really. I wasn't sure if the OP was looking for a dedicated track setup, what price range, etc. I know a lot of autocrossers who use those 2 models as a good street/autocross combo at a good price, rather than dedicating a 2nd set for the track.

I don't autocross much any more, but I run S-Drives, and they stick nicely for a street tire. Been thru Deal's Gap on them numerous times in 3 different cars, no issues. And I run hard up there. But to each his own- everybody finds something that works well for them.

Curious- from your list, which single model would you personally be most likely to run, and why? (Pure performance, durability, price, etc?) I'm always looking for info on my "next set" of tires. Currently dig my S-Drives, but I ain't married to any tire.

im probably gonna go to the track maybe 3-4 times this summer....everything else will be street driving/racing....so no not a dedicated track setup....really a street setup but im lookin for really good traction...

anything similar to tenzo cuzco but lighter? my price range is really under 1000 for 4...and tires im not trying to go over 200 each..i guess 18x8 then unless someone can convince me to go 18x8.5 they said the wider the wheel the better traction... .2 isisnt much and i like the black with red stripe

I currently have the Azenis. they gripp good, but i want more. So I have been thinkin about getting the Kumho XS' cuz they are cheaper and have more grip.

You can try to get some blacked out Enkei RPF1's

+1 on the RPF-1's in Black.....a good lightweight wheel and track tested..I have them on my MSP......

i herd the Mx's are amazing but also the kdw2 are supposed to heat up really well if you need a track/street tire

im prob gonna go with rota SVN and a 235 40 18 kdw2's or kuhmo mx....sounds like a plan??

dosent say maybe il call and ask...im not tooooooo concerned about weight most wheels weigh 20-22 unless u get ugly gram lights
