2011 Ford Edge

I like it, I was already a fan of the edge but there was a few issues I thought they should address after driving it and they covered all of them in that article. Looks really nice to me.

Proof that you literally can't please everyone - including Protege owners.

yup, dont like it either. :p

probably cause big fat suv's, with little useable space inside do not appeal to me.

22's baby! Do it big!! Those will get stolen instantly here.

no, probably not. it isnt aftermarket, or have the escalade emblem on it.

and where is here? nobody is in detroit anymore!

And do absolutely nothing for you in the terrain that SUV's are supposed to be used for.

It's not an SUV it's a CUV as mikey insists on assuring me...ergo, not designed for much if any offroad capabilities...

Have you actually been in and seen the hatch area of an edge, it's actually quite substantial...

SUV = light truck frame based. aka Ford Explorer, Toyota 4runner, Nissan Pathfinder/Frontier, and Chevy Subarban.
CUV = car platform based. aka Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Edge, and Nissan Murano, and Rogue/X-Trail.

Can't call the Explorer an SUV anymore, since it's going uni-body and changing totally for the new model.

SUVs are dying, and CUVs are the economical and reasonable replacement for a lot of people. If you're not towing, but need more cargo space than a sedan, a CUV might work. For small children, the higher ride height is nice for getting in/out of the vehicle if you have child seats, but not too high for children to climb in and out of themselves. The higher seating position is favored by many for visibility. There are a lot of reasons why people were buying them, but CUVs make sense.

I don't know about anyone else, but I see more use for a truck than an SUV.

I wish station wagons and sport wagons would become popular. Better on fuel mileage than either SUV or CUV and will haul just as much.

I am now a sport wagon owner and I am loving it. 30+ mpg on the highway and I can haul my bike, skis, snowboard, and luggage in the thing. And I can go to the home improvement store and haul lumber in it or on the roof rack.

+1

Audi Allroad comes to ind...

Also, throw diesel in those wagons and you can haul + get insane mileage

I think they'll come back again soon enough. I do see a market for cargo space back on the rise, and that makes sense for these companies to bring out the wagons/hatches again. I think one of my favorite right now is the CTS Sport Wagon.

Well my favs are either the Holden Commodore HSV Clubsport R8 or the BMW 335i Touring with the performance pack. The CTS wagon is really nice. One of my neighbors just bought one. Not sure if it is a V are not. Most likely it is a V6.

I don't think the V wagon is out yet. I was speaking only on those available in the US right now.
