Would you change from 2004 RX-8 to 2006 BMW 330I with sport package, premium package and premium sound?

No fan of turbocharged cars unless they are diesel. And a 335d is out of my price range for now.

I just dont want a BMW. Such a royal pain to maintain. If I cant work on it in my driveway.... I dont want it.

Yes, do you know how many computers that thing has? You ever kill the battery, or take off a terminal and your in for at least 10 hours of labor just to reprogram. Change your own oil....no sir, not when you dont have a dipstick. Dealers are just making more and more reasons for you to have to use their services. Not sure if its true about BMW's but I know some cars have "throw away" rotors now, and all this just makes the annual maintenance ridiculous.

Just my .02

I'm glad I asked the question here. There are a lot of good arguments when it comes down to maintenance how the car is very unconventional. I have researched quite a bit on that topic but that is not really my main concern. I should have probably clarified my question better in the begining. I meant more in terms of driving pleasure, style and looks, if it is a move most people on here would make?

As for someones previous question about me not being a big fan of turbocharged cars; with as large an engine as the car I'm looking at. The power it has is more than sufficient for my needs. I have outgrown the phase of speed addiction with motor vehicles. Unless we're talking small engines, a turbo is essentially useless for me. Furthermore, I read on a couple of other forums, BMW is actually having some problems with there twin turbo setup and might be switcing to single turbo on their next generation. Please correct me if my knowledge on that matter is completely wrong.

Lastly, for a small part of my life, I grew up in Europe, so I have a soft spot for diesel motorized machines including cars. As I said before, I would love a 335d, but completely out of my price range right now.

even trade with similar miles? you'd be stupid not to. private party for an 06 330 is around $22,000. an 04 RX8 is around $11,000.

money aside i'd still rather have the 330. the rx8 has never done it for me. it looks ok, handles well but the engine just falls short. for a daily driver i'd much rather have a 330

exactly what jred said. If you talking about an even swap then do it. If you are trading in, and paying anything over 11 000 more for the BMW i would walk away.

It is true that the BMW is a PITA when i comes to maintance, but i dought that you are going to find anyone in the world that thinks the RX-8 drives nicer. For daily driving, long trips, convience, comfort performance i think the BM has the RX. But it comes at a cost, initial cost (11K+) and maintance cost will be higher. Not to mention the 330 has a V6 right... so you should start building a gas station in your driveway.

are you trying to say that the 330 is less fuel efficient than the RX8 because it has 6 cylinders? I think tractor trailers get better gas mileage than the RX8 nevermind an efficient I6

even if the I6 isn't great it's tough to get worse than the RX8's mileage for a car. i believe real world numbers are usually in the mid-upper teens

Well, I'm ending up tradding. The 330I has less miles than my RX-8. I am getting what I want for my 8 and I got the 330I at the price I wanted. I won't get into numbers since the market here in Canada is quite a bit different than in the States. I will post pictures at the end of next week of my new wheels.

My insurance will drop by a little more than half believe it or not and my fuel bill by at least 30%. I have driven tow trucks that move airplanes that have more reasonable fuel consumption than the RX-8. Just as a future note to anyone that wants to get an 8. Amazing car but don't get one if your on a tight budget for gas. The engine is designed to burn a lot of fuel, it's just the way it works.

Congratulations on the new ride...

I love the RX-8, but I couldn't justify one as a daily driver...it gets worse mileage than the big Dodge 1500 quad cab truck we used to have! I ended up getting the MSP instead....

Well, the fuel consumption is pretty epic. I've had better mileage with a loaded u-haul truck. No joke!!

My friend is getting 9 MPG with his RX8... granted there are a few problems, but still, 9 MPG.
