Road force balancing

Update on this:

Turned out the tires weren't cupped and the loud Italian I was hearing was my right front wheel bearing - which had gone bad back in 2007 again.

So seeing I had nothing better to do today (and given the snow, turned out OK), I just finished replacing all four corners' bearings (just need to tighten things up tomorrow - also going to pop on some new tie rod ends - which may also help explain the slight shake at high speed I've had...maybe)

Alignment has been perpetually difficult to hold on this car. Road force balancing will still be in order on new summer tires.

That or I should just drive the thing into the lake with some cement shoes and be done with it.

I love your car. I would hate to see you get ride of it, but you have given it a good run man. If you do get this road force..... again let me know.

missed you at the meet. was a good time and no asshatery.

Sure. It's all dependent on keeping the car of course.

I had a good conversation with a manager at Levin Tire Center (http://www.tiredealersites.com/46322/default.asp?ID=243&PageData=28646&P=0 - Hammond, IN location; 3rd down) last week and they sound very competent, so if I get it done, it'll be there.

I think they said with a tire purchase it's just a matter of asking (no additional cost) but $60 for a set of 4 if brought in (or existing wheel/tire combo on the car).

I guess I missed the date and time on that one. Things have been a big hectic past month so I probably wouldn't have been able to make it up regardless. Maybe next time (famous last words)

Went to the shop this past weekend to get an alignment (post new bearings) and that Hunter machine is simply smashing.

In all the years I've had the car lowered no one (even two dealers) have been able to bring it into alignment - these guys got it nailed and didn't even balk that it was "modified" (typical reply: "Sorry, our computer cant do modified....").

Lifetime alignment warranties are great for shops that can afford to pay for customer returns. I'm done with those types of clown shops.
