I finished the new flywheel and new exeedy clutch kit. I just attached the tranny to the engine when i realized I had a pilot bearing. How important is this? can i just run it without it?

BTW my throwout bearing fell apart on removal is this common?

Did you remove the original pilot bearing? It's very important. If the old bearing wasn't removed you may be OK depending on it's condition.

you'll be taking the tranny off again in 500miles if you re-use the pilot bearing.

not usually no..but I don't know the specifics on mazda TOB design.

I installed a new Fidanza flywheel. I don't think It had the pilot bearing already installed. Oh well, I"ll just take it apart again and put that pilot bearing in it.

I ask because this was my first time doing a Mazda clutch. I have done many Nissan clutch jobs and never seen anything like it. I'll post some pics later.
