My car was peppered with brown paint.

Driving on the highway I notice a bunch of debris (wood, tarps, misc junk) I slow down like everybody else to avoid hitting anything. Well the guy in the truck in front of me decides not to pay attention. And run over some kind of can. I see the can shoot out to the right off the highway. Next thing I know my windshield is covered in some kind of liquid. Shortly after, I smell paint coming through my vents....It dried by the time I got off the exit which was 1/4 mile away. Beyond pissed. I have no idea which vehicle dropped all the crap either. Damage: Brown paint on hood, front bumper, windshield, side mirrors, roof of car. I have only had this car for 3 weeks.. 1st insurance claim. Merry Christmas to the guy who didn't secure his junk.(fight)

Try clay bar. My neighbor was spray painting something in his driveway. The one day I leave the garage doors open . . . The wind blew the overspray onto my car. (bang)(gah)(argh)

Clay bar is awesome. Took some elbow grease but it lifted the spray paint right off. I'm sure it helped that I had just clayed and way about a month ago but regardless, clay bar works pretty well.

You can get the kit at any auto parts store. I use Meguiar's.

**I would wash with dishsoap first. And then be sure to wax after claying. Clay takes wax off.

I clay at least once a year.

psh, only once a year? i do it way too often now, well mainly my front bumper and hood and sometimes fenders, but whole car probably 3-4 times a year. i like her shiny

Sweet, thank you! I will have to give that a try. Much rather try that before claiming on insurance.

try paint or laquer thinner, if it was spray paint itll come off very easily
or you could try to buff it off with some rubbing compound and a rag

It wasn't spray paint. Im guessing it was house paint, probably exterior. Due to the wood panels and stripped wood in the road also. I tried Meguiars Clay Bar tonight, followed the instructions and it was a no go. It didn't do a thing to it, yet I can take my fingernail and lightly scratch it and it comes off. My cousin said he has some stuff that he puts on a rag and lightly rubs, and it will pull it off. Used it on my moms car when it was vandalized and it worked. So gonna try that, in a small spot first to be safe. Thanks for the replies

Lacquer thinner is a bad idea IMHO. It will attack your clear coat. Mineral spirits or kerosene will probably be safe if you have to go the solvent route.

Kerosene? are u serious? talk about attacking your clear coat, that s*** will eat your clear coat faster then laquer thinner

ive used acetone on my car when i had to get some paint overspray off and it worked good, but just dont use too much
acetone is used in fingernail polish remover so it is pretty strong

i used the mothers clay bar for a small spot of overspray on mine, worked great.
i had a road incident with paint happen to my truck as well, my local body shop charged me 200usd to remove it. they used their buffers and about 4 diff liquid compounds on the truck. In the end, no more paint, and a great seal and wax job. They worked on it an entire day, so be prepared to leave the vehicle if you go that route

yea either way its going to take either a really long time to take off, or its going to damage the clear coat a little if u use chemicals

Well I talked to my cousin who does autobody. He used lacquer thinner and it came right off. As soon as he finished I took it to wash, put a coat of wax on it. Everything seems good so far! Thanks for the responses. Only took about 45 min.
