to keep P the same, (R of course stays the same) when T drops, V has to drop to match it.

basically it is done that way to try to reduce boost drop due to the cooling of the IC. the air on the cold side is more dense, so it takes up less space. you need a smaller pipe to maintain the same velocity. you want to maintain the same velocity to maintain the same pressure.

+1 to you sir. There is also a velocity concern (mass flow rate=rho*V*A=const in a closed system) but intake velocity is not as important to most people building FI cars so it's often overlooked.

That right there is support for the public education system. its been 9 years since I studied gas laws. lol crap, I'm gettin old.
