Product Release: 2010 CorkSport MS3 Intake, RacePipe, Motor Mounts & More...

Mine has been on for a week now...I'm a big fan! I apologize for not having a chance to update my thread I created last week, but I've been super busy then sick so I havent been surfing the web as much. At any rate, anyone that's looking for nicely designed pieces, with great instructions (I mean GREAT), and some fantastic gains in spool characterstic, overall power and of course turbo noises - order this piece!! My test pipe will be here on Monday so I'm anxious to get that on as well!

You'll love the RacePipe. It not only performs awesome, it sounds pretty darned nice too. We've got the intake, downpipe, racepipe and motor mounts on our car and just fabbed up 5 chassis braces for it in the last few days. I took it out last night after the MazdasNW meet and flogged the crap out of it on the backroads and it's like a whole new car. Carves up the sweepers and hairpins like it never did before. (drive) Now the biggest issue in hammering around corners is keeping it in the powerband when you need to be...because it'll just keep gaining speed through anything you throw at it...and you have to shift sometime!!

I honestly think I sucked down two gallons of gas last night in 13 miles. Best six bucks I've spent in a long time...

We're still trying to figure out the best location for chassis bracing in the rear without sacrificing hatch space - and have some really awesome solutions on that...but it'll be a little while before we're ready to release the bracing. We'll be mixing and matching material choices and combinations of the four rear locations we've fabricated up to get our customers the best bang for the buck in the next few weeks.

Turbulence? In what regard? There is going to be a natural amount of non laminar flow to the turbo inlet pipe just because of the fact that a compressor wheel is sucking the air. That being said, it's a smooth transition from the filter to the compressor wheel, and we've done computational fluid dynamics tests on the components (MAF, Filter, Couplers) individually as well as assembled and don't show any eddy currents or other flow anomalies.

I'd have to do some thermocouple datalogging to find the answer to the IAT question. I know it is substantially less than stock because the factory box heat soaks substantially which takes a while to cool off after the car gets to a decent speed (25-30mph). I have datalogs for the short rams on the MZ3 stock vs. CS Short Ram Intake and it takes the stock setup minutes to get to the lower temps that the Short Ram sees in seconds. Both intakes get to about the same point relative to ambient air temperatures, with the SRI getting just slightly lower temps (1-2 degrees). Now, that being said, you put our cold air box on the short ram (which is in development for the 2010 but has been sold for the 1G MS3 for COBB & CorkSport Intakes and MS6 w/ CorkSport Intakes and the temperature of the air going into the filter drops to within a degree or three of ambient air temps.

That answer your questions? If not, let me know...

Got mine yesterday... took a quick peek inside and everything seems to be nice quality. Will post pics and review once installed (hopefully tonight)

Thanks c0rksp0rt for getting me the color I needed =)

DarkSpeed - Sorry I never got back to you about my installation. It took me a good few hours, with food and chillin' out breaks...but I didnt quantify the official time. It was also my first Mazda modification experience so I was taking my time to understand what was what under the hood. I'd venture to say it could be done fairly quickly now if I had to re-do it. Good luck with your install...I think you'll be pleased with the results!

I did it last night in about 2 hours. The instructions werent the greatest but they could have been much worse. Im afraid Im going to get sick of the wo00o0oSHHHHHHHH sound in no time though.... its pretty damn loud LoLz (nana)

What do you think could be done better on the installation instructions?

Derrick I dont have the sheets handy to get the specifics, but there were a few inaccuracies for sure and some sections were very vague while others were satisfyingly detailed. A couple of mistake though in the instructions. I'll get the sheets out of the garage tomorrow and let u know. I know in one of the steps it mentioned "as labeled/marked in diagram X" and that particular diagram had no marking for the said area. What would be very helpful to a lot of people is bigger, more clear pictures in the instructions.

I wouldnt have put 45-90 min install time either. I dont know anyone (who doing it for the first time) that could pull that off in 45 mins.

i can only pray you are kidding.

Its a repetitive sound that does tend to get on my nerves after so long driving. We all have our own opinions, Its cool, just sometimes Im not in the mood for the extra noise, thats all. I can always lay off the turbo to keep the volume down some. No big deal. Im glad I didnt get a BOV, thats all I can say. The car would sound like birds chirping in the middle of a tornado LMAO (rockon)(rockon)

DarkSpeed,

Glad you're giving good feedback on the instructions, just drop me an email at griffith@corksport.com with your comments and I'll remedy them immediately. Now I'm looking back through the instructions to see where the missing details in the figure were!! ;-)

As for the 45-90 minutes, you have a good point here. I'll update that as well. I think 1-2 hours makes more sense.

We also had some gaps in the video content links, which I've updated on our YouTube host today and we'll be updating that on our webpage shortly as well. All good things that should have been done earlier.

It's hard for us on the level of detail to provide as we've had people tell us that the instructions were overly verbose while others want more detail in areas. That's one of the reasons why we have worked on the simplified checklist as an addition to the full instructions that provide further information to people who haven't had the opportunity to work on some of the specific details of any given installation. It's a tough rope to walk - on one hand overly detailed instructions get thrown out by people who have done this type of install a number of times (and then there's the risk of missing a critical step) vs. not giving enough information in areas and leaving people stranded...

We're working on these formats, instructions and dialing in the best way to give everyone the level of information they need to produce the same great results independent of their level of experience.

Again, seriously, if you have time, drop me an email so we can chat about the areas you'd like to see improved. It means a lot to us to constantly improve our methods and content for future customers.

Thanks again,

Jason
