More chatter is emerging about a possible premiere for an Audi RS3 at the Frankfurt motor show next Tuesday (when the show begins for two press days before being open to the public on September 17).
This tip comes from an Audi dealer in Cape Town, South Africa care of Jalopnik and GermanCarBlog.

Here is the quote:
"Looking forward to the unveiling of the new Audi RS3. 2.5L five-cylinder turbocharged engine, 4WD & 335Bhp. See it at Frankfurt Motor Show."
We have previously reported on the rumor/speculation of an RS3 debut for Frankfurt and what that dealer quote says seems to be in tune with what Auto, Motor & Sport Sweden had gleamed from their source in Ingolstadt.
Namely, that is, that the RS3 will be an all-wheel drive (Quattro) fitted with the 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder turbocharged engine with 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque from the TT RS.

The urban stylishness of the Fiat 500 combined with the pure performance know-how of Ferrari? That just may be the proverbial match made in an Italian automotive heaven that will appeal to many, many people.

Unfortunately, there may not be enough of such a car to go around. Ferrari and Fiat's performance division Abarth have partnered for a limited edition series based on the Fiat 500 - to be called the 695 Tributo Ferrari.
But the car definitely aims to bring new meaning to the term hot hatch. For starters, the 695 will come in the traditional Ferrari color of Scuderia Red.

Performance will be boosted by means of a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol/gasoline engine dialed up to 180 hp coupled to an F1-style 6-speed transmission with paddle-shift function. Suspension tuning will compliment the increase in power and a set of red Brembo brakes will sit behind the 17-inch alloy wheels made special for the occasion, referencing classic Ferrari design.

The interior cabin gets carbon fiber seats dressed in black leather while the steering wheel trim comes with red inserts to make for a true Ferrari color contrast of red on black.

More details such as pricing and the number of models to be produced are sure to follow when the 695 Tributo Ferrari debuts at the Frankfurt motor show next week.

Lancia Ypsilon ELLE to Premiere in Fankfurt

As much as some women prefer not to be treated differently from men, it cannot be denied that differences exist between the sexes. Some are obvious, some are not. Lancia recognises this and has partnered with the ELLE brand to create this Ypsilon ELLE show car. It goes on sale in the European spring of 2010.

With cars like the Ypsilon Moda Milano, Ypsilon Versus and Musa Poltrona Frau Lancia positions itself as a fashionable car brand. This attitude extends to using fashion icons like Stefano Gabbana in its advertising campaigns. ELLE is of course the fashion lifestyle brand for the modern young woman.

In linking the two, the Ypsilon ELLE has combined style and fashion in a way that very few cars have before. For instance the bodywork is finished in a unique metalluro-effect pink meant to stand out on the catwalk for the 2010 season. Chrome-plating is evident on the radiator grille, the rear bumper, handles and door mouldings. The matt-coated 16-inch wheels are coloured in the same pink as the rest of the car while the outside pillar features the mail silk-screen print which is inspired by ELLE magazine covers.

Inside details include special purple leather and Alcantara upholstery that features contrasting stitching with bright white leather piping. Even the gear lever gaiter is a matching purple.

Alfa Romeo has announced plans to introduce the MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde (four-leaf clover) at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Destined to become the sportiest MiTo, the Quadrifoglio Verde features a 170hp 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine Backed up by a new six-speed C635 gearbox, which has been specially designed to deliver quick changes and improved fuel efficiency, the hot hatch will offer a thrilling driving experience. Speaking of fuel efficiency, the Quadrifoglio Verde consumes just 4.8L/100 km (49 mpg) while emitting 139 g/km of CO2 (in the extra-urban cycle).

To give the MiTo a ride worthy of the Quadrifoglio Verde badge, Alfa added a Dynamic Suspension system with continuously variable shock absorbers. The system offers three different modes (Normal, All Weather, and Dynamic), so drivers can custom tailor the ride to fit their particular needs.
In terms of styling, the Quadrifoglio Verde receives a discrete four-leaf clover decal on the fender as well as a satin titanium finish applied to headlight frames, wing mirrors, and 17-inch wheels.

Audi R8 Spyder gets an early unveiling

With all the leaks leading up to the Frankfurt Motor Show, we knew this one would pop sooner rather than later. And here it is: the Audi R8 Spyder. No more spy shots or speculation. The drop-top bomber from Ingolstadt has arrived... and it's achingly gorgeous in this chocolate hue.

Without any official information to go off of, we can't comment on weights and measures, but we do know Audi will only be offering the Spyder with the Lambo-derived 5.2-liter V10, putting out 525 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. On the styling side, there's not much to report. Along with the removal of the roof, the sideblades have been dispatched in favor of a duo of scoops ahead of the rear wheels, while the windshield gets framed in brushed aluminum and a set of vented bulges trail off from the seats. Unfortunately, we don't have any shots of the R8 with the top up, but when we get an eyeful in Frankfurt, we'll get our first glimpse of the retractable soft-top and the R8's new profile

Redefines style, elegance, and insanity

With Mercedes and McLaren battling for supercar supremacy at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the long-rumored Lamborghini Reventn Roadster had become a bit of an afterthought - until now.

Like the original Reventn coupe, which debuted in Frankfurt two years ago, the roadster redefines style, elegance, and insanity. Designed to be a stealth fighter for the road, the Reventn boasts jet-inspired carbon fiber body panels and aggressive 18-inch wheels. Inside, the roadster is decked out in alcantara upholstery and carbon fiber trim.

While details are limited, the roadster will likely be powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 650 HP (478 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. Backed up by a six-speed e-gear transmission and standard all-wheel drive, the Reventn will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. If you keep your foot planted, the roadster will top out somewhere in the neighborhood of 340 km/h (211 mph).

Production will likely be limited to 20 units and prices are expected to start at 1.2 million Euros ($1,750,000 USD).

Seat has extended its Ecomotive range with the addition of Altea, Altea XL and Leon models.

All three models feature a common-rail 104bhp 1.6-litre TDI engine and a new diesel particulate filter to improve fuel consumption and lower emissions. Stop-start technology also features in all three models.

The Altea and Altea XL have CO2 emissions of 119g/km, while the Leon manages 99g/km. This is a 20g/km improvement over the model it replaces. Low resistance tyres are fitted to all models, as is a gear change indicator.
Official performance and fuel consumption figures have yet to be confirmed, but expect them to be announced when the three models are launched at the Frankfurt motor show.

weird.. I thought german drop tops were normally called cabriolets.

I thought the italians and japanese used spyder.

Bentley Continental Series 51

As with Rolls-Royce and its Bespoke Collection, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley will be introducing its Continental Series 51 cars for the GT and GTC. These will be a cadre of models further tailored by Crewe's designers. Each car "will feature a highly distinctive interior color palette and unique exterior design cues." The first car to show off the line wears an interior in Imperial Blue, Linen, and Newmarket Tan, with color-matched floor mats with contrasting stitching.

You can top the tri-tone interior with a two-tone paint job outside, and throw Bentley's new self-leveling wheel center caps on the 20-inchers. The Series 51 cars will be available to order from this month.
