so i started up my car today after a day of work and about 1 minute into the drive home my car starts beeping at me. i looked at my dash and saw that the tire pressure indicator light came on. so i pulled over and turned off my car and turned it back on and it was still there. i checked my tires and they all seem fine.
what could this be?

also i installed my COBB SRI in on Thursday could this have anything to do with it??
and if i take it to the dealer should i remove the SRI?

Did you actually check pressure or just eyeball it? I ask because I just had this problem two days ago (light came on) and tires all looked the same but one was low after checking all four pressures. Filled it up and light went right off.

I can't see the SRI causing this light to come on.

i only eyeballed it but that's probably it. tomorrow morning when i have some light i'll check it out.
thanks

The sidewalls on the stock tires are so stiff that it's tough to tell by eyeballing it. Mine will go off and when I check the pressure is around 25.

so i checked the tire pressure this morning and the back two tires were at 32psi
but the front two were only at 20psi
so i filled them up

but the light is still on. now it just stays on without beeping .

btw what are the stock tires the 07 speed3 sports came with?

Bridgestone RE-050s. It might take a little time for the light to go off. I suppose you could reset the ECU, too. Check your tire pressure more frequently in the future ;)

definitely don't have bridgestone i have pirelli pzero rosso's..
idk if that my change the psi needed. i tried looking on the tire and i don't see anything about it.

I'm assuming you bought your MS3/wheels used? I'd stick with 34F/32R for DD. There should be a MAX PSI rating on the tire somewhere. I'd use that for reference if you were to Auto-X or something.

yea my ms3 was used.

Just an FYI: My light went off as soon as the tire pressure was in normal range. Didn't even turn the car off but as with all warning lights, reseting the ECU usually does the trick.

20 PSI? Forget the warning lamp. The car would handle like crap (i.e. it should have been obvious).

FYI on my 09' the rain sensor for the wipers was interfering with the TPMS sensor. The light flashed and then stayed on with tires at proper inflation. Mine was covered under warranty.

So then how the f@$k do you know how the car handles with 20 psi then?

Nevermind, an internet arguement is what you are seeking but you won't get it fom me.

I'm not looking for an argument. That fact that underinflated tires will affect handling (and safety) is common knowledge.

Tire pressure

When a tire is underinflated, most of the car's weight is concentrated on the tread that's located just under the sidewalls, rather than being spread out evenly across the full width of the tire. This means that as the tire rolls, the sidewall gets continually flexed (squished, if you will) and heats up. This affects both performance and safety. In addition to degrading the handling of the vehicle (via the mushy steering response courtesy of the flexing sidewalls), a tire that's considerably low on air can blow out due to the stress from the heat buildup and the constant flexing of the sidewall.

For testing the effects that low tire pressure can have on a vehicle's performance, the Tire Rack had us drive two identical BMW 330Ci automatic coupes one with proper tire pressure and the other with 30 percent less than the recommended amount. Why 30 percent less? Because soon the government is going to require that tire-pressure monitoring systems be standard in all new vehicles, and 30 percent happens to be the maximum amount that it feels is safe to allow for underinflation.

Looking at the two Bimmers side-by-side, it was hard to tell which one was low on air. The short, stiff sidewalls of the 225/50R16 Goodyear Eagle GT-HRs hid the deficit well. But when we drove them back-to-back, it was plainly evident which car's tires were underinflated, as the 330Ci's normally precise handling dynamics were softened, making it seem as if the car had a softer, almost mushy suspension in comparison. In all fairness, the low-air car didn't feel unsafe, but it certainly didn't inspire driver confidence the way the properly aired-up car did with its precise handling and steering feedback.

Well if you posted that the first time I would have no issue with it. I got the feeling you were trying to make the OP look stupid by saying "it should have been obvious". Well obviously it wasn't obvious or we wouldn't have this thread.
Some people answer forum questions without kicking the OP in the n@ts and some don't. Some people have a lot of friends, some don't.
