Paint my stock rims?

I'm thinking of throwing a powdercoat of flat black on my stock rims. I already have everything else black. I'm just debating on how it would look. I ******* hate cleaning the breakpad dust off everyday, but I don't want the black rims to make the tires stand out. Any suggestions?

black on black would look good!!! seems like ur going for the "Murdered Out Look" so it would look good. i would also consider gold. but that's just me.
but before committing $200 to powder coating. i suggest getting trying it out with this: http://dupli-color.com/products/wheel.html. that way if you dnt like it you can take it off much much easier.

Good luck!!

Well, I was looking around for a murdered out ms6, and this ride definitely sealed the deal. I'm gonna do the dupli-color and go ahead and paint my calipers while I'm at it.

Do eeeeet!

I did mine on a silver couple months ago. Cost me 400 out the door with a full detail, plus powdercoat on a few extra pieces. Looks sick and I don't have to clean them every day.

OP, if you want to see how it looks you can photoshop pics of your ride with the various colors to see what you like best.

my 2 pennies... +1 on the murdered out look.

I painted my Stockers.

I don't have pics at the moment but they turned out pretty awesome.

My method:

Things you will need:
2 different grits of sandpaper.
4 cans of spray primer.
8 cans of the color of paint you plan on using. (Note: I used paint made for wheels, but basically any automotive paint that will bond to primer will work.)
4 cans spray clear coat
1 Hot day with lots of sun and low humidity. =P

1. Take your tire off your wheel. ( If you can't do this or it's too much trouble, just get some newspaper or note cards and some tape, and cover em, but not until after you are done with step 6)
2. Wash and dry wheels.
3. Sand wheels down using 100-150 grit sandpaper. (Take your time! Keep it even. This step took me and my friend about 3 hours.
4. Wash and dry wheels again.
5. Sand wheels again using finer sandpaper like 300 - 400 grit.
6. Wash and dry wheels again.
-If you are covering your tires with paper, this is the time-
7. Spray 1 Can of primer per wheel. Even coats. Take your time.
8. Allow primer to dry. (About 15 mins per coat depending on how thick you go.)
9. Use paint (2 cans per wheel). Even coats. Allow to dry. Yada Yada Yada.
10. Allow paint to dry.
11. Spray clear coat. (1 can per wheel)
12. Allow wheels to dry and cure. The longer you let them dry, the better chance they will have to not fade or whatever.

That's basically it. It is a long process. Me and my friend started at 9 o clock at night, stopped at 4 in the morning, woke up at noon, and went until about 5 that night.

Don't forget! Have PATIENCE!

Hope this helped!

IF you want pics, lemme know and ill try to take some.

I've been debating this with my second set of MS6 wheels. They've got some minor blems on them, so I would have to do some work on those spots, but I think I could clean them up nicely.

For those of you who've powdercoated wheels, after the sand/media blasting, are most of your imperfections gone?

not really youve still got all the wheel rub, and deeper scratches. media blasting's, media. dsnt have enough mass to really get scratches out.

It looks like just the finish is scuffed. I wonder after blasting if that would be brought down to bare metal and able to be hidden.

If not, looks like I'll be busting out the bondo to touch up those spots and fix the wheels up.

ya if its a finish thing it will get it off for sure.
but if you see metal bring out the bondo.
