Cobb AP Discussion Thread

It's not really a tune. I'm just doing a couple pulls on the dyno for charity at English Racing which is right next to Corksport in Vancouver, WA. If they do offer a tune, I may come back for that later on since I'm househunting right now :p

Ok,
Here's a log from after letting the flash settle. I've run a couple and the highest boost spike I've seen is 19.72, but everything is hanging in the 18s.

Take a look and tell me what you see.

Anybody?

Don't make me go start my own thread about it!(protest)

I read about that on Corksport's website. Looks like a fun time. You're fortunate to be geographically close to them. They're a great group to work with.

It looks to me like your LTFT's are awfully lean. I seem to remember my LTFT's at WOT being +10-11 or so.

when LTFT are negative that means rich. at WOT with the AP they should read -.16 which is basically 0 because trims are not really applied during WOT. i dont know if you listed the map you are running marauda.45 but that might help to see, i just don't feel like searching for it.

When you are taking it easy on your car after a reflash, that is what you're doing. You can also do it manually through AccessTuner RACE.

I think that most people do not give their ECU ample time to relearn the car's fuel trims and that's how they end up with screwed up LTFT's and such. I can see why it would be hard to control your right foot after an upgrade though. Everyone wants to see if their money was well-spent.

you can not screw up the trims by not driving correctly, its just best to let them balance out first. this does not calibrate your maf sensor, you do that in the atr software itself. but by driving easily it allows for the stft to be applied to your ltft.

Im running the a beta map from Chirstian. Stage 2 TIHCPN 93. Ltft's are prefect. Like bova said -.16 at wot. Car seems decent in 2nd and 3rd but 4th pulls like a monster. Said it will be another week before the v 1.01 maps will be out so I can have the latest firmware to run these maps on.

TICHPN? What on earth does that mean? Are the 1.01 maps going to have the enhanced features?

I'm running the Stage 2+SF 93 v101c,

I don't think it's exactly the right map, I also have the Stage 2 93 v101d that I was going to install, but decided not to bother until next week. I'm installing a cp-e FMIC and will be putting the Stage 2 93 FMIC tune on.

Anybody have the link for the place to get all the Stage 2 maps, I switched computers and lost my favorites?

Yeah, I met Jason, one of the head guys there, really awesome guy. Actually their entire staff was really cool. Jason showed me their 10 second 99 Protege. That thing is SICK looking! Can't wait to see it running on Saturday!

Okay, so I have a full TIP and SRI with a Forge BPV. Today I will be installing my turboback Corksport exhaust. I was wondering exactly which map I should use. Should just the plain stage 2 work or do I need something else? Thanks!

Stage 2 +SF would be ideal if you have the Cobb SRI. Even if you don't, I think it would be a better match than any other map.

Either the map he posted, or try the Stage 2 93 v101d map from www.mzdspd.com.

Anyone have any more info on the v1.01 maps? I noticed they pulled a lot of maps off the Cobb website, so the other site has the best options for us.

the v101 maps are currently on hold. i just talked to christian today and they are addressing issues with new firmware development before they continue with those maps. he will be away the rest of the week and will get back to me on monday.

Any new features in the works with these maps & firmware, or is it mainly bug fixes from previous versions?

Okay so I guess for the time being I'll just go with the Stage 2 from Cobb. The other issue is that most gas stations here only carry 92 octane. Very few have 93. Will those 93 maps cause detonation?

Play it safe and run a 91 map if you can't get 93 or higher. It's not worth the risk.

I'm going to agree with Steve on this one. I'm run 93 maps, have ready access to 93 octane but at the same time found that even one step colder plugs were not completely reducing detonation. I went with two steps colder and haven't had a problem since.

Knowing that, I couldn't in good conscience recommend a 93 map if you don't have access to 93 octane.

Also, you should note that if the fuel you fill up with is 10% ethanol, that you are probably closer to 1.5 octane points higher than advertised. For instance, the 93 octane I fill up with is 10% ethanol and the octane rating ends up being 94.4. Typically for 91 octane, your actual octane rating with 10% ethanol mixed will be close to 92.7. For 92 octane with 10% it will be close to 93.5.

There is a big "However" that follows that paragraph and here it is: Just because you have 92 octane with 10% ethanol, does not mean you can run a 93 map safely. When it comes to detonation, you really can't afford to gamble... Unless you're a Saudi prince, of course!

Hope this helps!

Reflashed to Stage 2 93 v 101 this morning, put 135 miles on today and the damn thing is still learning. WTF

I babied it all day.

Same here. Been beta testing for a couple weeks now. Got up to revision C. Got an e-mail monday saying he would put this on hold until the new firmware was released. He said he would get back to me monday as well.

btw, TIHCPN (Turbo Inlet Hose+CPE NANO) This is also a FMIC map. Forgot to add.
