OK please guys I know this may be drawn out but I need advice, please read! So I went in today to replace what I am told by the Mazda tech is my rear motor mount. I def have a broken motor mount, I know that much. They have me sit forever then tell me they don't have the part because it got diverted to another state, and it wont be here until next tuesday. The part they ordered to replace was my REAR mount, but my thumping/engine thrash symptoms only occur when I turn my wheel to the RIGHT. Would this mean that it is most likely my right passenger motor mount that was gone, or would having a destroyed REAR mount also bring symptoms like that? I am thinking the retards once again ****** up and ordered the wrong part, and they just had to order a passenger side MM instead and buy time with a stupid story about part diversion. I want to just order the damn part myself so I can get it fixed asap, but when I asked for the part number so I could buy it myself, they gave me the part number for the REAR mount, the one ordered several days before.

So basically...I don't know if I should go buy a rear motor mount only to find out that YES, it is my passenger side mount that is broken...or is it possible that due to the position of the rear mount, a broken one would cause more thrashing when turning to the right? Thanks, I hope this makes sense.

EDIT: sigh..."Morot Mount".....FML

It's real easy for you to check the side motor mount to see if its intact or ripped. Visually inspect it and run your finger along the rubber part and feel for rips/cracks/etc. End the speculation and go check it out. If you have access to the jack, you can use the same procedure to check the rear.

All the motor mounts on our MSP's are very prone to failing eventually, so I would highly recommend purchasing aftermarket mounts from Medieval or AWR. They will be cheaper and ten times more durable, reducing wheel hop and torque lash dramatically. If you stay with OEM mounts your just setting yourself up for failure.

be careful not to mistake the groove cut into the rubber as an actual tear on that side mount

It's the rear, thanks guys!! It seems like a have a few solid MM options (AWR, SU, Medieval), so I'm going to try to get whichever decent mount ships ASAP!!! I can't drive this thing another day with that broken mount, I'll go insane!!

if you need an AWR with expedited shipping i can make that happen, just PM me

Be aware that the rear is a bit more work then the front and sides. If your going to replace the rear just get them all and call it a day.
Ken will set you right...trust his opnions and knowledge. He's never let me down yet!!

While we are on the subject of motor mounts, is there a how to on replacing the REAR motor mount. I have the car in pieces (LSD failure) I am replacing the motor mounts. Am I going to have to drop the subframe that the steering rack is attached to replace/get at the bolts for the rear MM? Or, is there a better way????

easyest way.... remove strut bar, battery, ect. ect. to get to it, and hope for the worse time of your life trying to remove it! its a b**** no matter which way u try for it.

I already have the car disassembled ...just wish I had not put the trans back in....just yet...

Thanks for the url to the post I searched but that one never came up.

After reading it I think I am just gonna drop the rack and subframe.....

I have side mounts and the 80 one for the front. No vibrations and love the way it handles! Possibly install my rear mount which is a 90 something next summer if i can get a hold of a 626 mani. I should have installed it when I had my mani ported and vtcs-less
