For the most part my tires look flush, but if you look directly from the side you can see that there is a very minimal ammount of buldge. Dunlops site specifies 9.8" of contact patch on 245/40/18 Star Specs... and stock contact patch is 8.X"
245/40/18 tires are specified to fit 8-9.5" wheels though and look very at home on my wheels I think. If you're thinking about going wider I say go for it. (idhitit)
You do understand that those are contradictory statements, don't you?
You don't understand the English language do you?
People on here are so quick to respond without taking the time to read... or you just don't comprehend the proper context of the subject?

Pro: On a smooth road and in turns there is much less body roll which contributes to better handling characteristics.
Con: It gives a mildly bouncy ride on the freeway, if there are "bumps and juts" present. example... exaggerated because the H&R springs have a higher spring rate, than stock springs, which overwhelms the OEM shocks/struts capability to dampen the movement/articulation of the suspension as a whole.
Saying my H&R springs provide a bouncy ride at times does not "contradict" the fact that they at the same time exhibit characteristics that enhace my vehicles handling.
here's mine.simple and clean in my opinion.18x7.5 42 offset 5zigen

Lowered on your H&R's do you have any issues with the 245/40's fitting/rubbing? I have the same rims and am trying to find the biggest tire possible. Also do you know what the backspacing is on the DC-5's? I bought them used and never got that info. I'm buying another set and wanted to compare.
Think whatever you want, but using springs with rates that are too soft for the amount of lowering they provide and that reduce the amount of useable suspension travel to a laughable amount without firming up the damper valving does not improve a car's handling prowess.
If you're inclined to believe that it does, I'd love for you to come try and chase me and my bone-stock-suspension MS3 around a road course.
I'm not saying that the OEM setup is ideal on this platform, but it definitely lends itself to a better handling car than one that's merely had its springs replaced with H&R Sports.

My MS3 is a DD and will likely never see a "proper" suspension set-up or a track. For a DD it's just not practical to mod to that extent.
I'd be willing to bet that my last car, tC (butthump), would hand it to a/your stock MS3 with ease and likely some modded MS3s too.
Did that fancy schmancy TEIN system give you independent control over rebound and compression damping??
Lol... Tc.... Edfc....
Lol... tC.... Edfc....
That's cool. I just don't want you deluding yourself about your car's handling. Did that fancy schmancy TEIN system give you independent control over rebound and compression damping?? I've always kind of wanted to try it out...
Oh, and I never said my CAR was stock. Just the suspension.
So you're only quicker in a straight line... LoL
is that the TRD charger? cause if so, dookie as hell
